51 percent of players at this World Cup have had regular access to the Jabulani match ball, but not one of them is in England’s 23-man squad

That's great preparation & attention to detail Fabio!!!

FFS!!

The writing was on the wall with the Japanese game, at such a late stage during the England teams preparation they failed miserably to take them apart and this I feel is down to a much heralded coach.

It is all starting to unravel! The German manager has slated them and I feel that not many teams will fear this team with this present set up.
England had the same problem with Swen and now the same with Cappello. The English Premiership game is about tempo, well that is until you get into the England side and then you can play it at the speed of a zimmer frame!

Why change the type of game they have been used to for the entire season. To my way of thinking this is why top players cannot play with one another, they do not become bad overnight..................it is down to the manager and I am afraid that he is screwing it up.

I think this relationship might be over!

Spain keeper's girlfriend lambasts goal 'muck-up' on TV

11:59 GMT, Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:59 UK

The TV reporter girlfriend of Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas demanded he explain a blunder which lost them their match against Switzerland, live on TV.

The stunned shot-stopper walked off when his girlfriend asked him after the game: "How did you muck that up?"

Spanish fans have reacted angrily saying reporter Sara Carbonero, once voted the world's sexiest journalist, distracted him during the game.

In their opening game of the tournament Switzerland beat Spain 1-0.

After the post-match interview, Spanish football websites erupted in indignation, blaming 25-year-old Carbonero for "sapping his strength".

'Nonsense'

The wives and girlfriends of Spanish players, known as esposas y novias, are barred from accompanying them to the tournament.

Before the World Cup, when it was announced Carbonero would be in South Africa doing her trademark post-match interviews, she dismissed claims she would be disruptive, saying: "Can I destabilise the team? I think it's nonsense".

Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes bundled the ball into Spain's goal in the 52nd minute of the game.

Casillas had rushed out to tackle an incoming Swiss forward, but failed to grab the ball, which fell luckily for Fernandes.

"I don't know what to say," said Casillas in the post-match interview.

"I don't know if this defeat will have consequences. The dressing room is fed-up."

Carbonero, who was voted Sexiest Reporter in the World by FHM USA last year, has been dating the Real Madrid goalkeeper since 2009.

Before their opening match, Spain were rated as co-favourites to win the tournament alongside Brazil.

A PUB boss accused of racism for putting up English flags taunting the Auld Enemy last night insisted: "It's light-hearted banter."

Landlord Ian Tasker was ordered to remove the St George's Crosses by cops after a complaint.

But last night Ian, 46, hit out at "heavy-handed" police for carpeting him over the cheeky wind-up inside the Post Office Bar in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.

'Racist' ... Anyone But England flag
He said: "The police should spend their time catching criminals and not wasting their effort on this.

"It's light-hearted banter and 99.9 per cent of our customers find the flags hilarious."

Banners ... Post Office barOne flag included the slogan A.B.E. - Anyone But England - while another banner poked fun at England's blundering goalkeeper, calling Robert Green "Scotland's No.1 Fan".

Green let USA striker Clint Dempsey's shot trundle through his fingers during England's opening World Cup game.

Police turned up at the pub on Thursday night and staff took the flags down.

Ian said: "We felt like we had no choice.

"When I called the police next morning they admitted no law had been broken. So the flags have gone back up.

"Putting letters on a flag isn't against the law as long as they're not obviously offensive - it's a shame the police were so heavy-handed."

But Stuart Parr, of the Campaign for an English Parliament, said: "If the police felt there was a possible cause for offence, they were right to demand their removal. There is enough bad feeling.

"If it had said 'Anyone but Pakistan' you wouldn't think twice about removing it."

Tayside Police were not available for comment.

Where has the banter gone, our country's knacked and the world cup is giving people a opportunity to have some light hearted banter and wind each other up.I think most England fans would not expect anything less and vice verse.Scotland is sick it is not there so our banter is pure jealousy. A.B.E

I have always supported any British team in the world cup. In England, there are annual St Patricks day celebrations and Burns night suppers, in fact I would say that St. Patricks day is celebrated more than St. Georges day.

I think the England supporter who managed to get into the England dressing room after the match & give the players a piece of his mind ought to be applauded & not the subject of an all out man-hunt by the South African Police.

That England supporter just might have woken up the slumbering giant & the players may well have had a shock & ear-bashing, the likes of which they could never have imagined in their wildest dreams.

At least England is a Slumbering Giant, whereas Scotland is a Hibernating Giant; hibernating for over a quarter of a century as far as the World Cup is concerned!!

HMV rejects 'anti-English' ABE T-shirt slur

17:17 GMT, Saturday, 19 June 2010 18:17

Entertainment retailer HMV has rejected claims anti-English World Cup merchandise in its Scottish stores could incite racial hatred.

The chain has been criticised by members of the public and the Campaign for an English Parliament (CEP) for stocking Anyone But England T-Shirts.

The company said it had "toned down" displays featuring the ABE slogan after police visited its Kirkcaldy store.

However, a spokesman said the T-shirts were "good-natured football banter".

HMV rejected claims the T-shirts would incite racial hatred

He added that a police officer had visited its store in Fife but had left without taking any action.

In a statement printed on its website, the CEP called the merchandise "insensitive and provocative" and said retailer Debenhams had made similar concessions following a complaint about ABE T-shirts being sold in Welsh stores.

It said: "During the last world cup, a number of racist attacks were committed in Scotland against English people and anti-English racism remains a problem whether it's a world cup year or not."

The organisation's spokesman Stuart Parr added: "The Campaign for an English Parliament will challenge any company that incites racial hatred towards the English.

"Racism is unacceptable no matter who it is directed against, including English people."

Slanj, the company behind the ABE brand, denied its goods were racist and insisted they should be taken as "tongue-in-cheek football banter".

'Football banter'

Manager Ross Lyle said: "They're our local rivals. It's the same as Celtic-Rangers, Liverpool-Everton. It's just football banter and football rivalry.

"On a personal football level, I'm just jealous because Scotland aren't there, so I don't want England to be there either."

An HMV spokesman said: "If we thought the shirts were in any way inflammatory, then we certainly wouldn't have stocked them, and we believe its plain wrong for anyone to suggest otherwise.

"I bet if you ask most Scots, and even quite a few English fans for that matter, they wouldn't see what the fuss is about, accepting, like the Equalities & Human Rights Commission, that the shirts are simply the latest bit of good-natured football banter that's been traded between both sets of fans down the years.

"In our view, they are not against England or the English, but are simply about some Scottish fans expressing their view that they want a team other than England to win this year's World Cup, which I would have thought they are entitled to do, even though it's not a sentiment we agree with."
