No lap dancing in stretch limos

24.06.2010

Operators of stretch limos in Broxbourne borough have been handed the naked truth about what ‘activities’ can go on behind the tinted glass of their glamorous vehicles.

Broxbourne Council has laid bare to limo companies that saucy striptease, sexy lap dancing and even pole dancing are not the sort of cheeky antics that will be tolerated within the confines of the luxury people carriers.

Traditionally stretch limousines are hired out for ‘special events’ including weddings, funerals, anniversaries and birthdays.

However, until now they have operated outside the licensing system imposed on taxis and minicabs in the borough and the council has decided it is time the limos are regulated as well.

There are around 30 stretch limos in Broxbourne borough operated by two or three companies.

At Tuesday’s planning and licensing committee it was decided that from now on special event private hire operators and drivers will be licensed from August 1.

The conditions of the license stipulate: “The following activities are prohibited in the vehicle – striptease, lap dancing, pole dancing and any activity or performance of a like kind.

“The licensee or driver shall not knowingly permit any visual recording to be played that is unsuitable having regard to the age of the passengers being conveyed.

“Where alcohol is supplied in the vehicle, no person under the age of 18 years shall be allowed to consumer alcohol. Any alcohol supplied shall be in non-breakable containers. Alcohol shall only be served while the vehicle is stationary and at all other times bottles are stowed in a secure fixture.”

The report says the trade is ‘generally accepting’ of the new system of regulation as it will ‘provide customers with improved confidence if the vehicles and drivers are brought into a licensing regime’.

Vehicles can be left-hand drive, have tinted glass and have some side-facing seats but customers must wear seat belts.

New applicants for a private hire operators licence must also have a criminal records bureau report and pass a ‘knowledge test’ about licensing legislation

Of course, the size of limos that a council are permitted to license is limited to the likes of the Lincoln Towncar and the Chrysler 300. How many midget lap dancers are there in the UK? There is not enough room to move around in ANY of the stretched limos to allow this kind of act. I think that if they looked at this properly they would see that it is just a myth.

Those lap-dancing girls can be pretty inventive in small, cramped spaces; given the chance.

When there's a very fast few bucks to be made, they'll think of something!!

The only time that I have had lap dancers and pole dancers in any of my limos was when one of my limos was used by Granada Men & Motors for filming a documentry and they kept their clothes on and sat nicely on the seats whilst I drove them around.
