What people don't realise is, when you've had a drink your body doesn't start to process the alcohol until 2 hours after your last drink so, if you've had 4 pints of Wife Beater, each pint is 3 units of alcohol so basically you've had 12 units of alcohol, your body processes 2 units of alcohol each hour.

Your last drink was at 10pm your body won't start to process that alcohol until 12 midnight, your body starts to process it at 2 units an hour, your body might be clear of alcohol at 6am, "I say might", everyone is different.

So, If I was a heavy drinking scotsman & went on the lash for 24 hours are you stating that my liver will not start to metabolise the alcohol until hour 26?
What is my liver doing for the first 24 hours, do it jus turn around and say ' oh hold on, you are still drinking, I think I will wait until you stop drinking before I go to work'?

Please provide a reference for you claim.

thanks eze

You are assuming that once banned people will actually not drive whilst the ban is in place. Sadly this is not always the case and lets face it once you are banned, with the prisons full, what further punishment can they give you?

Anyone stupid enough to drive whilst disqualified, or drink drive whilst disqualified will go to prison more times than not.

The least will be a six months night-time curfew, or as is commonly known as 'prison in the community'.

I think you are wrong. One of my sons, who I believe is an asshole, got a 6 months ban. during this 6 months ban he was caught driving again. He got a fine of around £500 and a further 2 years ban. He was not sent to prison and this option was not even mentioned in court.
He subsequently got stopped again whilst banned whilst driving a stolen vehicle that wasn't taxed and he obviously didn't have any insurance.
What penalty would you think was imposed on this occasion?

Absolutly nothing. He was not even taken to court. Go Figure. :?

We were talking about drink driving bans, not totting up bans.

If he was not working then the fine could have been a couple of hundred, or he should have got a community sentence of some version.

But as he wasn't taken to court means the police f***ed up, not the courts or the Criminal Justice System.

I don't know about when the liver starts to process the alcohol but I do know it takes approx. one hour per unit to do so :-|

Thank you kindly for the response toots,

I am really looking for when the body starts to 'process' alcohol & if what Nigel states is actually true. I have searched & searched & cannot find any relevant information pertaining to his claim about alcohol not being processed by the liver until the last drop of alcohol has been indued by the consumer.

You have clearly mis understood what was stated. OK it was put very clearly and I think there is a mistake in what was written but basically what Nigel is trying to say is that the liver starts to break down the alcohol after it has been in your body for 2 hours and it will continue to process this alcohol at a rate of 2 units per hour so if you have consumed 12 units of alcohol the liver will take 6 hours to process this alcohol plus the 2 hours that it takes to start the process so therfore 12 units will take a total of 8 hours from the first drink to before there is any chance that you are clear of alcohol. Obviously there will be a longer time to clear the alcohol from your body if you are drinking the 12 units over a longer period of time, say 4 hours.

Is you're name Nigel? or are you just his spokesman?
I am trying to get to the botom of Nigels statement, every fool knows what you have stated but Nigel did not state what you are stating. If he did then I would not be asking for valadation of his statement, would I ?

I am sure Nigel has the mental capabilities to answer a question when put to him in a rational manner, If he is mistaken with his statement then let him come & tell the world, simples innit like!

Notice the use of the word last, So according to Nigels theory I could be drinking all day, all week or even all year but my body doesn't start to process the alcohol until 2 hours after your/my last drink.
Not my words, no, I do not think that I have mistaken anything.
