I'm just looking for the pro's and cons regarding Auriga and Autocab. So if you know spill the beans, please

Auriga is ok but expensive.

Depends on what you want. They offer a few different 'grades' of system depending on what you are looking for:

There is a 'hosted' system, where you use your own computers to connect to a server via the internet. You the PDA's to send jobs out to cars. This is an entry level system for smaller fleets or new startups.

Next, there is the 'Core' system. With this, you get a server and computers from Auriga. You can send jobs out using normal Radio (to their CT3000 or CT4000's) or via GPRS (to PDA's or CT4000's). Evocab Core is for firms up to 150 cars.

Finally, there is the 'Enterprise' system. This is the 'biggie' with industrial servers, desktop PC's and everything offered on the Hosted and Core options, but just on acid . Many of the largest taxi firms in the UK use this system, as well as some in Spain and New Zealand.

The best thing to do is to ask an Auriga sales person for a demo at Aurigas office. The demo is run by their trainers, who are very open and honest. They will answer all your questions honestly regardless of whether the reply is positive of negative.

You should also ask a few Auriga customers for their feedback - from experience, their customers are always willing to tell you anything they want to know - something Auriga will always recommend you do.

So, expensive is no longer the case, although it is fair to say that there were less options available when the system Sussex works with was installed.

Thanks ITK. I currently work on an Auriga system myself at the minute but was hoping to find somebody who had perhaps worked both so a half decent comparison can be drawn. I spoke with an Auriga rep who suggested that it's the lack of investment that is causing the problems drivers are facing at the firm I work at currently. Obviously because we are having problems with the system then my opinion of it may be bais and possibly distorted due to the lack of upgrades by the company that owns the circuit I'm on

Speak to the rep again - I am sure they would be happy to tell you some Auriga customers who had the system you have now who have upgraded to the Evocab system.

Some of the companies I know who run Auriga have got Data heads and not PDA's. Ask them if they'd swap over to the PDA? They'll give you a no.

I hate the PDA's with a passion, it's only a mobile phone giving you a job via text message, if the network gets hit with problems your screwed for getting rid of your jobs like we did on Tuesday.

There's an old saying, you get what you pay for, if your going to skimp on a system like the PDA system it will bite you on the backside.

It's not going to be with PDA's it's going to be Dataheads. Has anybody used the Autocab system?
