I have just had a Digitax M1 meter fitted to my Ford Mondeo Titanium X which is on a '58' plate. In order to get a speedo pulse, I have had a Sailes CanBus fitted. Initially things appeared to be OK and I was getting the correct meter readings but occasionally when starting a journey, the meter price starts to increment by 10p every second. Not bad but unfortunately not legal!!

I could not clear the fault until I stopped the engine and allowed the CanBus to reboot. I went back to the company that fitted the meter and they found that there were issues in particular with Mondeos 08 year from Ghia, Titanium and Titanium X models.

As an interim measure, we have fitted an on/off switch to the live wire to the CanBus which effectively makes it easier for me to power down the unit should the problem re-occur.

I cant believe that I am the only person to be driving a Titanium X so is there someone out there who has seen the same problem and has resolved it please? Is there anywhere on the model of vehicle where we can pick up an analogue speedometer pulse?

Many thanks

will the analogue sender be fitable when the car is all fly-by-wire?

Is there not a pulse wire behind the radio??? that's where most are or remove the speedo and trace the wire required or even ask at a ford dealer what wire it is and use a scotch Lock

My old Mondeo was fitted with a Digitax F2 which was tapped into the radio cable that monitored the speedo pulse to operate the auto volume. I am told that whilst the new Mondeo uses the same technology, the wire carries a digital signal which gives the same problem unless anyone knows differently?

We're running a 57 titanium x, but unfortunatly on PH so no meter.

We have another 3 new shape mondeos all 08 or newer with meters fitted and there are no problems on any of thoese. They are Zetec and Edge models but I don't have any experience of meters in ghia or titaniums.

The pulse wire is behind the radio, I think it's the white and black striped one.

Many thanks to all. Recent discussions with the Canbus manufacturer is to try taking the 'live' from the ignition circuit which will result in the Canbus rebooting each time the car is started. This is my next course of action.
