Taxi driver banned for two years for driving 'at' pedestrian

A taxi driver who mounted a pavement and drove after a pedestrian twice has been banned from driving for two years.

Mouzuddin Ahmed, aged 35, was at the wheel of his Phoenix Taxi in Victoria Street, Northampton when he drove close to a pedestrian walking his dog.

Northampton Crown Court heard how he got out of the taxi to remonstrate with him at 9.40am on June 23.

Stephen Crouch, prosecuting, said the two men got into an argument with "each giving as good as the other".

As the pedestrian went to walk away, Ahmed mounted the pavement and drove at him, forcing him to jump into a doorway to avoid being hit. Ahmed then drove the wrong way down the one way street and then turned round to do it again.

Ahmed, of Murray Avenue, Kingsley admitted dangerous driving and was sentenced to 16 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with 20 days education, training and employment and must do 150 hours' of unpaid work.

Judge Michael Fowler said: "This is a case of dangerous driving, opened to me as a case of road rage. You lost control and drove at him intending to frighten him rather than hit him. You have since accepted that it was your fault and that you have lost your employment as a taxi driver which is why I am able to suspend your sentence."

Paul Tweddle, mitigating, said: "It was a culmination of years of racial abuse while working as a taxi driver."

And heres me thinking that "Race abuse" was something simple like one Ferrari leading an F1 Grandprix slowing down to let another Ferrari pass it to help its driver win the F1 championship...God how naive am I???

So race abuse isn't fixing the results of horse races to beat the bookies or teams in the tour de france blocking rival teams riders in to stop them winning stages then its something totally different :D

Seriously though theres road rage and road rage this is very reminiscent of the addison lee driver only this time the pedestrian managed to save himself how many more are there out there prepared to take the law into their own hands like that it is a worrying thought
