I'm with wannabe on this, I think

Surely TACSI is a word than can be mistaken for TAXI and therefore, under your PH regs, can't be used.

Stick to name and number, people will know who and what you are (in a business sense) just the same.

Our LA's legal advisor has informed me due to a law from 200 yrs ago we won't be able to use the word 'Taxi' and if we went to court they would win.

Now that would be an interesting case. I would love to see the LA's legal advisor going to court and quoting a law from 1810 about taxis.

But surely the law would have to change as well as the LA's guidelines?
But then they'd have to ban the use of 'TAAXI' TAXXI' 'TAXEE' 'TAXE' 'TAXAY' 'TAXII'.Well thats all i could think of

Exactly! If they stop us from using 'TACSI' we will be using 'TAXXI' with 2 small X's, 1 X ontop of the other

Tacsi is illegal as well [welsh for tacsi boyo]. Even if you used the word taxxxi or similar the law is the same and it's your intent to pose as a taxi driver/company so as to hoodwink the public into believing you are a taxi company when in fact you are a private hire company masquerading as a taxi company

if the OP gets 1 hackney plated vehicle though.....

but the clue is in the phrase "not to use on a private hire vehicle the words CAB or TAXI..... or any word sounding like them"

And the key words there would be "Not to use on"....How about those words being used in advertising other than on the vehicle iself...?
