We have a company in falkirk running taxis and PHV's. Would I be right in thinking that some, or all of the following are illegal on his PHV's

A/ the license holders name on the door reads ***** taxis ltd

B/ the company name embroidered on the driver's shirt

C/ the company receipt/business cards prominently displayed on the dash

I have a forum meeting next week and would like to raise these points with my LO, but not if I'm going to look (even more) foolish.

Personally I think all 3 are wrong as it's hard enough to distinguish saloon cabs from PH as it is.

I don't know about Scotland, but, we have the same situation on the circuit I work. We have the full company name including the word taxis on our tops, jackets and receipts but not on our vehicles. How legal it is I couldn't tell you, sorry :D

That's not strictly speaking of all the drivers and the owners just want to make a shed load of money with as little effort as possible, but don't we all

All I want is to do the basic 7 day shift, 12 hour day with enough left over to pay for a holiday. Its when I get tired and think I'm actually going to kill someone, I tend to get worried.

Can you do something to really annoy them?

Age limits, DSA tests, knowledge testing, even the dreaded BTEC?

Age Limit- in place 6yrs on date of first hackney

DSA tests- being considered by LO for review panel of councillors

Knowledge test- as above

BTEC- he was in talks with someone (name escapes me), is now in talks with local college, disability groups etc to compile his own version.

So short of making up some bogus story of illegal plying as the customer was sure it was a taxi due to all the written stuff on and in it , and the car and the plate looking the same, and the place the PHV was parked, the driver looking desperate for a hire etc, no wait, I tried that last month,

Hoi!!! I resemble that remark, as I drive a mickey mouse saloon taxi

Tho TBF to the company concerned they have quite a few WAVs in the fleet. Mainly 7 and 8 seaters, (BTW there's no LTIs at all in Falkirk Council).

Clothing..no documentation inside the car... no... advertising outside the car depends on local conditions of licence... which I would be asking what they are.

there's no advertising on any cab in Falkirk (part of same review). The name on the outside is the obligatory licence holder sticker/plate/printed bit of paper we all have.

If it is the name of a limited company.... I would think it was legal....

Have you tried sitting available for hire at places they frequent freephones?

That annoys the hell out of them.
