Well I may as well get hung for a sheep as well as the lamb,( no I have not thats CC night job)
the main reason PH are more prolific in WAV area's is the folk dont like using hacks and would prefer to travel in alleged comfort of a saloon and yes the punters mentality is oh the PH are cheaper yes in most cases but if the PH where to be fitted with sealed meters with their own council tariffs the same thing would apply the punters would still go for the saloons

I see, you want my point......the point was that if the contract is with the PH operator, it is ultimately up to the operator to determine the cost of the contract ffs.

CC

Yes and that is what the tariff card is for ffs

ffs.....the tarrif card means f*ck all with you lot because as youve already said, youve vehicles with meteres, vehicles without meteres and HC's who rip off everyone.......which they dont, its just that some folks cannot afford Hackney Carriages, they're called poor people who are just affluent enough to put themselves above the bus as a form of transportation.

I seriously think PH on the wirral should be called poor peoples chariots.

CC

You know I could gladly come up there and slap you sometimes  The meters that are in the PHV are set to the tariff which is set by the operator. The problem occurs when stopped at traffic lights for example and the meter is still going like it does in the HC's, this causes a slight difference in the fare rate sometimes as the customer sees it. I accused the HC's of overcharging because they use their meter instead of our tariff. Before rate 2 kicks in on their meter and if they aren't stopped by lights etc their meter price is cheaper than our PH tariff but they then charge the PH rate which is illegal as you know. I'm still trying to find out how the tariff is affected if there are 5 passengers in HC

Go past Carlisle junction 44, up the A7 through Langholm and Hawick, and punch skippy first.

Would there be any mileage (no pun intended) in forcing all PH to have a tariff displayed, whether or not a meter is used?

Could it be achieved with an ammendment to an existing (1976) act or would Primary legislation be required?

I never said it was. All I was asking was where did it say the price had to be given to the customer when they booked the job with the operator company. It is feasible for one man bands but not large busy companies.

Too many quotes for me to answer.

You'll have to make one point at a time, it takes longer I know, but so does guiness.

You have to because your operator says you have to not because the LAW says you have to.
