Well I may have a seconder - not surprisingly it isn't CC.

It would be nice to know that Plymouth might get some support for the proposition, either in full or at least in part.

Has anybody got any (sensible) modifications to the wording which may swing a few towards acceptance of the proposition?

To press for revocation of section 52 is, I believe, a non starter, and as I have previously stated such a provision is needed.

If section 52 had amended the 1972 Act to include "immediate suspension" Plymouth would have been de facto included.

In its current form, it is open to abuse, therefore its abuse needs to be stopped - but not its legitimate use.

Without any proposition the current situation may not even be debated at the AGM and that would leave the NTA in the predicament of not having any policy with regard to Section 52.

I have no doubt that at the open day Ashfield and Tunbridge Wells will be two place names that come up again and again. Speakers will no doubt make platitudes that these are just "aberrations" and no action needs to be taken. They are wrong and they will be wrong. The two Licensing Authorities concerned should be forced into making reparation to the drivers whose lives they have made a misery.

So, will the Plymouth Proposition receive any support or will proposing and seconding be as far as it gets?

The department for Transport has already been asked to give Clear and distinctive guidelines on this.... even before they brought out their last best practice guidelines. they don't seem to be listening... or worse have no power to do anything....

Can I state that I am anti toilet roll covers.
Can I further state that I am pro a sensible Section 52.

Think that should fully clarify my position on the vital points of this thread.

I cant see any resolution regarding toilet roll covers working, unlike of course, the toilet roll covers.

I solemnly promise not to propose anything about Toilet Roll Covers at the NTA Annual General Meeting in 2010 or in any future NTA AGM.

I further promise that should anyone else make any proposal about Toilet Roll covers at these meetings I will personally abstain on voting on the issue.

I do however reserve the right to act on behalf of my local association and to vote in the way that the local membership decide.

If your association make policy regarding toilet roll covers, and you have already stated you will not propose anything regarding toilet roll covers at the NTA Annual General Meeting in 2010 or in any future NTA AGM, couldnt that leave yoy in the sh*t with your members?

I don't anticipate any problem on this.

If the Dft do not have the power to do anything, who does?
