Unreal, its been proved we cant trust them with section 52......how the hell can we trust them with fining cab drivers?

Captain, what are you on about here - I can' make any sense of this. Can I take it that something else has happened in Ashfield, and, if it has WHAT?

My guess would be that they have done something to Nigel. He is down as a guest at the moment.

But all this has a flip side, and that's the campaign we all had, shared with others, pointing out to Ashfield's councillors what was being done in their name i.e. putting driver's homes at risk cos they have been parking on double yellow line, has clearly had an effect.

As far as I know no-more drivers have been suspended, which indicates the out of control licensing officers have been reigned in.

All we need now is for them to be sacked.

I agree with you Sussex. Or taken to Law to explain to Magistrates or a Judge how they feel it was OK to abuse powers that he/she/they shouldn't have had in the first place.

And to face the consequences of his/her/their actions. The very least should be that they pay the loss of earnings to the drivers suspended. They might then be less inclined to do it again.

As I made clear at the NTA AGM, I support the correct use of section 52 - I abhor its abuse.

I do wonder why the licensing officers (deliberate lower case not capitals) have not had their names put up in lights on this thread.

Anybody got any information on names? If they have any qualifications it would be nice to know those too! Are they members of IoL or NALEO and have those bodies taken any action in regard to re-education (or education) of their members?

So many questions, so little time.

No Toots, you were right - they pry on - but they also prey on!

Knowing that the LO's in sunny Ashfield like to keep up to speed with what is said on TDO, do they have the decency to hang their heads in shame when they consider the 21 "punished by suspension" drivers?

I'm sure that I won't be the only one to bring to the attention of the "Transport Committee" in Parliament the appalling travesty of what happened in Ashfield and the urgent need to prevent it ever re-occurring anywhere.

Of course I'd like them to answer this when they read it. I would even be interested to know if there was some justification of which I am unaware....

But I won't be surprised if they don't and can't.

We will have to wait and see if they are members of Naleo. I doubt it very much.

Anybody surprised they lurk?

They have had a couple of days to reply.

Anybody suprised that they have not?

Alex, better make sure that there is plenty of room for this thread.

Ashfield seem determined to get "Frequent Flier" points for appearances on TDO.

In the RN in my day - if you wanted to leave really badly, you would commit some error, so non-trivial they would throw you out. It was called "Working your ticket".

I wonder if an LO in Ashfield is working his (or more probably her) ticket?

She did put in an appearance last night on the rank.
