Yeah yeah Cgull, just like the other lads who work New Years Eve for DOUBLE THE METERED FARE on one of the highest tarrifs in the country.

Last year I called my mate in Brighton to wish him a Happy New Year at the end of the shift, I thought I'd had a good shift £340+ until he told me he'd took over £700 and in less time.

We cannot blame representatives for not making money, the blame for that lies closer to home. I think that their negotiations to have one of the highest tariffs in the country give you the ideal oppertunity to make good money. It could of course be that more cars have come on the road this year, but I won't suggest that this would have an effect on your takings, now would I.

Do you mean 'pirate'?

Anyway, you seem to have changed your tune completely in a couple of days, since you recently said:

SOUTH SEFTON HAS TWO P/H COMPANIES, ONE IS SEAFORTH 380 CARS,THE ORTHER IS DELTA IT HAS 800 CARS PLUS,

WE HAVE LEARNED TO WORK SIDE BY SIDE,

Sounds like you just say whatever suits your case. :?

I suspect your attitude is that PH are OK when they know their place [-(

BUT YOU WANT IT FOR FREE...FREE...FREE...FREE

WE ALL KNOW YOUR TYPE ,YOU ARE WHAT GIVES TAXIS A BAD NAME

Oh dear Mr T...if you can't argue the point then at least say nothing rather than get abusive. It's SO predictable as well as offensive.

As regards working for a plate and getting it free, it's funny how you manage to twist things round and try to make those who want a free plate from the council seem the greedy ones - ALL plates have been issued free by LAs, so why shouldn't people seek one?

I suspect you have an attitude that could perhaps be described as Roydenesque, to coin a phrase:

You get a free plate from the council, then run bleating to the courts when the LA decides to treat everyone similarly, and you suddenly reailse that you can't make a big fat profit off excluded drivers.

As for 'working hard' for something, plate premiums are due simply to the cartel between sections of the trade and LAs, hardly the result of hard work.

As for those paying the premium, they do so on the basis that they will be making future excess profits to pay for it, and in the long run will be quids in. Of course, this comes off the backs of the paying public and/or journeyman drivers, so I think you are deluding yourself a bit about hard work.

I think the people who give the trade a bad name are the likes of Joanne Connely in your neck of the woods.

Let's see now, and correct me if I'm wrong:

- got plates FREE from the council
- now worth £1 million
- charges drivers grossly inflated rentals so that they can work
- spouts rubbish about 'deregulation' leading to sex offenders in the trade.

Lucky for her and yourself the public don't really know much about the trade, but, believe me, if they did, then this would certainly be giving the trade a BAD NAME

I think what you mean is that people like Sussex and myself are beginning to let people know how the trade really works, and thus giving the trade a bad name.

Thus it's YOU that's giving it the bad name

We'll all take that as meaing that it's finally gotten through to you that ALL plates are issued FREE?

But never mind, like Mr T, if you can't answer the point, then ignore it :D

Have you ever considered that it might be you that's dreaming the dreams Mick O:)

For example, you recently demonstrated that you are clinging on to this view of a plate as an investment, when in reality it's always been just one big huge gamble.

It's not as if de-restriction is a new thing, but surely even you should have realised the true nature of the thing in the past few years.

Perhaps you should change your tune before this view does any more damage - people are still buying plates at ridiculous rates when LAs are derestricting left, right and centre.

While restricted numbers are some sort of twisted anachronism, I'll concede that the dream of you and others has been realised for a number of years, but slowly the trade is being dragged into the twentieth Century (sic), and soon the whole lot will make it there \:D/

DTO AND SUSSEX. OR BILL AND BEN.

IF YOU THINK I AM BEING ABUSIVE, IT WOULD APPEAR YOU ARE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE ,THIS BEING THE CASE THEN YOU ARE IN THE WRONG TYPE OF WORK......

YOU KEEP ASKING ME HOW MUCH I PAID FOR MY PLATE,(I HAVE IGNORED YOU) , YOU SIMPLY DO NOT PRY INTO A PERSONS BUSINESS THAT WAY.
BECAUSE OF YOUR OBVIOUS LACK OF BUSINESS ACUMEN I MADE ALLOWANCES FOR YOUR RUDENESS. YOU MAKE ASSUMPTION AFTER
ASSUMPTION AND BELIEVE THAT YOUR ASSUMPTIONS ARE ACTUALLY
FACT. LET US LOOK AT SOME FACTS.

YOU ARE PRIVATE HIRE YET YOU ARGUE OVER A PUBLIC HIRE ISSUE.
THE REAL ISSUE HERE IS THAT YOU WANT TO BE A PUBLIC HIRE DRIVER
[WHY?} YOUR ARGUMENT THAT PUBLIC HIRE LICENCES SHOULD HAVE NO RESTRICTIONS ON THEM DOES NOT HOLD WATER. YOU, AS PRIVATE
HIRE HAVE NO RESTRICTIONS PLACED ON YOUR LICENCES, YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY AS YOU WANT, ISSUED TO ANYONE, AND YOU AND I KNOW THAT AT THE BUSIEST TIMES OF THE WEEK PRIVATE HIRE CANNOT COVER THE WORK THAT IT HAS. IN FACT IN SEFTON CUSTOMERS OF OUR PRIVATE HIRE COMPANIES HAVE TO WAIT UP TO
90 MINUTES FOR A CAR. AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE, YOU HAVE NO
RESTRICTIONS, SO WHY IS IT YOU WANT A PUBLIC HIRE LICENCE?
COULD IT BE THAT YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH BEING A PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER? IF SO, WHY WOULD THIS BE THE CASE? YOU STATE THAT
UNLIMITING THE NUMBER OF LICENCES ISSUED WOULD BE THE ANSWER
YET YOU WORK WITHIN SUCH A SYSTEM YOURSELF. SURELY YOU SHOULD BE VERY HAPPY AND NOT WANT TO LEAVE. I THINK THE TRUTH
OF THE MATTER IS THAT -

1] YOU ARE EXTREMELY UNHAPPY

2] YOU ARE TOO FRIGHTENED TO SORT OUT YOUR OWN PROBLEMS
WITHIN THE PRIVATE HIRE TRADE, BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT AS SOON
AS YOU OPENED YOUR MOUTH TO WHOEVER IT IS WHO PROVIDES YOU
WITH A RADIO, THEY WOULD TELL YOU TO TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.

AS FOR MRS. CONNOLLY, YOU SEEM TO KNOW HER BUSINESS INSIDE AND OUT. I WOULD HOPE YOU HAVE SPOKEN TO HER AND DISCUSSED
HER BUSINESS DEALINGS IN DETAIL BEFORE MAKING SUCH IN-DEPTH
AND SWEEPING COMMENTS, OR IS THIS JUST ANOTHER OF YOUR
ASSUMPTIONS WHICH YOU THINK IS FACT?
MRS CONNOLLY HAS AN IMPECCABLE REPUTATION WITH THE LIVERPOOL
CAB TRADE, EARNED THROUGH HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OVER THE YEARS.

I HAVE AN EXTREMELY GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH PRIVATE
HIRE COMPANY OWNERS AND DRIVERS. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED
PRIVATE HIRE AND PUBLIC HIRE ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN.
IN SEFTON WE WORK TO PROVIDE A FIRST CLASS HACKNEY AND PRIVATE HIRE SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC.

LOVE MR.T

P.S. THE WORD WAS PRAT.

If Mr T can get a free plate, why can't the drivers whom you claim he will make a profit from, you claim they are excluded, how then isn't Mr T ?

TDO wrote:

Telling half a story cannot possibly be constrewed as letting people know the truth about the trade. If you were to say that many years ago these plates were first issued by the council to people without charge who have subsequently sold the right to operate that plate to the vast majority of current plateholders, for many thousands of pounds. Then you may be getting somewhere close to the real truth.

What you are trying to get people to believe is that every current plateholder got their plate for free and are now trying to sell them for thousands of pounds, and there is little honesty in that.

Well I don't think you are being abusive, I think you are just acting to type.

What you can't understand is that on TDO there are a number of people who actually know a little bit about the trade. Thus the tripe you no-doubt spout out, to those not in the know, doesn't wash on here.

But I'm pleased to see you on TDO, because if TDO wasn't having an effect, however small, then the likes of you would be blanking it.

So thanks for the compliment.

1) I'm very unhappy, and at times I can't sleep. :^o

2) That's not the case, but say it was. Would you recommend that a driver stayed quiet and let people s*** on them, as the case in Basildon shows, or would you prefer they stood up for what they believe in? :?
