and you ask why we're all obessed with the so called rich :? A member of my family is in the 40% tax bracket, how would you like to be in that tax bracket and see so much of your hard earned dissappear?

Feel free to correct me but isn't it just the earnings above the 40% threshold that are taxed at 40%? The bit up to the threshold is still taxed at basic rate isn't it? Also when someone reaches the upper earnings limit for national insurance, doesn't that drop from 11% to 1%?

That's not the point is it really. The fact is if you work hard and earn more than average you're taxed hard and not necessarily that much better off than average earners. That tax subsidises almost everything but higher education and I think it's wrong. Education should be free.

Just pointing out that by being in the higher tax bracket is not as bad as some would have us believe. Another "perk" of being in the higher tax bracket is that ALL allowances are at the higher rate.

To begin with, like you, I suspect, I have no vote in London, so that's Boris out of the way.

As far as Cameron and Osbourne are concerned:

1. What would you like to see from them?
2. What do you think Miliband could deliver that they can't?
3. Were Blair/Brown able to improve the national wealth during their
tenure?
4. Would your answers vary if the politicians involved had a background
in Law?

Fair enough about boris, I wont go there, the less said about him the better ! What i would like to see from them is some reality from the torys not the [edited by admin] they promise and break. The education will become a thing for the elite again from diastorous cuts and fees.As for the nhs what about the promise of no change then two months in and lansley shuts wards, wait and see what more.i could go on but its getting a bit boring .As for the law bit what does that matter ? Sorry forgot about milliband would of prefered his brother myself but will wait and see not sure about him yet.

kinnock and prescott are interesting candidates for elitism ! thing youll find better examples in the labour party if you look closer. But harking back to the two jags is a bit old hat.As for anarchy a few students getting [edited by admin] off at being held/kettled hardly constitutes anarchy.

I get the feeling this isnt about students.....the ones I've heard on the radio all seem to talk with plums in their mouths.......that aside, the guy from Pink Floyd whose son was playing tarzan on the cenotaph......he cant be short of a few quid.

This leads me to think it weren't working class kids.

Personally, and I know this may sound extreme, and bearing in mind the above sentence, I'd bring back the riot act, read it then shoot.

If that was aimed at me, I think people have the right to protest, not to riot.

I'm not kidding here - has the riot act gone?
I honestly thought it was still available.

Ok, I looked it up.

The Riot Act came into force on 1 August 1715, and remained on the statute books until 1973.

So I'm all for bringing it back as well.
