actually, my experience is that a meter yields a bigger fare than any guessing game, plus at the end of any trip the punter has the meter as a reference, plus they can watch it rack up a fare

if they werent £200+ plus fitting id have one

Simple answer to the problem, give the punter a slight over estimate, get the fare upfront, and run the meter and give them the change if any

This reflects the same debate I'm having locally as mentioned at the beginning. No one can come up with the complete answer.

Maybe one of my local colleagues will contribute to the debate.

what did i say?...

My estimates for out of borough jobs are never near the metered fare .If they were id use it !
