eh you sort of ask for more than the meter if you use one

But there is no statute saying PH must adhere to any specific rates, therefore they can't overcharge, as there is no rate to overcharge.

The council insists a meter is fitted at the time of the pit test or it will fail.
However a PH does not have to have a meter fitted and can technically (in Blackpool), remove the meter after the pit test. The byelaws (in Blackpool) say the meter must be used IF fitted, except for PH where a fare not greater than what the metered rate would be can be negotiated. Again in Blackpool the byelaws state that for hackney carriages the meter must ALWAYS be used.

i cant understand you

if your meter rate is acceptable i can GUARANTEE a metered fare will be higher (or at least, all inclusive) than any "guessed fare"

my point was that if his meter rate works for him 90% of the time why invite the hassle at the drop with the 7ft drunk thug "yr nae using the fckin meter mate, hall report yae, and kis this fcker (whack) and your nae getting the money"

The fare here for that journey would be £15 day rate.........and £20 odd night-rate on the meter.

Ours would be the same as Blackpool £11 or after midnight £11.50 unless of course you're in a HC then it would be more

dont really understand the confusion. As i said if im going out of the borough when its busy i will always quote more than i would get on the meter. The reason being is im not going to get a fare back and i could probally earn the same amount local with no dead miles
