As usual, Garry, your way ahead of yourself. war has not even been declared, iit's only your own ego that makes you think you're so important.

If you remember ALL complaints are required to be sent to Peter Lang who forwards them to the Cab Inspector for him to investigate if criminality is involved.

Frank is legally entitled to ask you to attend for interview per your licence conditions.

Compliance with Authorised Officer
142
The driver of a taxi shall not obstruct the Authorised Officer in the performance of any of the Authorised Officer’s duties under these conditions.
143
The driver of a taxi shall comply with all the instructions or directions of the Authorised Officer in relation to these conditions and shall give all information reasonably required in the discharge of the duties of the Authorised Officer.

Without knowing the nature of the complaint, how can you decide it is frivolous?

The simple thing would be to go, listen, then give your opinion and leave if you so desire. Rather than being subservient by going, you are being stupid by not going.

Spoken like a true bewildered herd.

If the charge/complaint being levelled at Mr Skull is driving dangerously, then surely that's a criminal offence, not a civil one.

Therefore the policeman should be using PACE to conduct his investigations.

Durr, the laugh is, Frank, has acted upon a false allegation. I did absolutely nothing wrong. :D

Yes but badly.

Frank has proved he's not just a bad Cab Inspector, he's also a poor Inspector.

Frank's got problems. He of all people should understand an individual's fundamental rights. He abused them and brought Lothian & Borders Police into disrepute by doing so.

From an officer with such a senior position his superiors need to give his position a long and hard look.

Being a helpful sort of chap, can I suggest that Frank be relocated to Fettes HQ.

I've heard the the Lost Property department is looking for an "innovative" leader who can implement process creatively.

What amazes me, is the lack of dignity Taxi Drivers have for themselves. They simply allow the public, the police and council officials to treat them like the sh*t on their shoes. And you CC, seem to be a willing participator in their game.

Frank Smith isn't doing his job when denying people their rights. On the contrary, he's acting as a Fascist.

What, become a taxi driver and leave your rights at the door when you start driving?

And you came to that conclusion based on what exactly?

I think you'll find I help drivers on a daily basis in disputes with local authorities.........some even say thanks.

So you think, by not standing up to public officials who abuse taxi driver rights, is not perpetuating the abuse. I call what you do kissing officials on the ass and begging for their existence.

If you have inalienable rights why don't you use them?

The only protection one has against a false allegation is not to speak to it. To do anything else is to throw yourself at the mercy of the police or the council and expect them to act reasonably.

You are actually empowering these control freaks to beat on people with impunity.

Do you accept that being a taxi driver means you are to be treated as a second class citizen?

Who protects us?

What is despicable is that Smith trots this process out knowing full well that he is enticing drivers to incriminate themselves.

This is how our cops work. Which is why while they would have us believe it is a police "service", and all their propaganda tries to make this point, the actuality is that we have a police FORCE.

The cops serve themselves, as the instrument of control for the establishment, they do not serve us.

As I've said before, until I came into the trade I had no contact with councils, cops, lawyers or courts. This trade has brought me into contact with all of them and I see the gaping flaws in each of them.

I used to trust the police, now, as has been shown by the acts of petty officials like Smith, I wouldn't help the cops on their best day.

How long before we're all alienated and they stand alone?

What Smith should now be doing, even though his process has been effectively destroyed because no one in their right mind will ever again give them the chance to stiff them, is to give the Skull a written apology.

But Smith won't. I'd vouch that even now he knows he has to go through with the process to save his professional neck. But I'd also vouch it is too late. Smith's professional credibility is shot. His position no longer tenable.

BTW A wee birdie tells me that there is going to be a story running soon in the press which examines police complaints about trade members to the council, and quantifies the the low number of times the council actually takes action.

The system doesn't work.
