dont really understand the confusion. As i said if im going out of the borough when its busy i will always quote more than i would get on the meter. The reason being is im not going to get a fare back and i could probally earn the same amount local with no dead miles

And my argument is you are NOT ALLOWED TO CHARGE MORE THAN WHAT THE METERED RATE WOULD HAVE BEEN.

That's according to Blackpools bylaws, which also say the meter must be used at all times (for hacks). Where on the tariff sheet does it say you can charge extra for going out of borough ? Where does it say in the byelaws that Blackpool hacks can offer fixed rate fares ? Where does it say that you can ignore the rates set by the council and make your own up ?

Oh and Blackpool to Poulton is 3.5 miles, but yeah £10 is about right at T2 - but your quote of £15 -see Blackpool hacks = ripoff. But you're not allowed to do this anyway.

See you dont really understand do you.So ill explain to you in simple terms  Forget the mileage lets stick to the fares. If i was doing a job out of my boundary on any busy night/day i would give a quote, i wouldnt use the meter. This goes on everywhere ie airport/long distance work.I do this because at metered fare it would be better for me to do local fares. So they can either pay me what i quote up front usually or find another cab/minicab to get home.Wheres the ripping of in that ?By the way sasha your minicab firms in blackpool are the ones discounting everything, manchester airport 45 pounds ? Not in mine you dont

Tell me this, if a punter gets in, says "poulton please" but before you leave your LA they say "sorry drive, i need to get out here", havent you broken your LAs regs by not putting the meter on at the start?

PS, my reference to "ripping off" was you quoting a price on a 7 mile journey (your words) which seems to be less than 7 miles.....

then we would come to a mutual agreement on the fare,by the way i get a lot more disputes over the metered fare. But this very rarely happens. As for the 'ripping off' i said before depends where your going from to, so you couldnt really comment as you obviously know very little about driving a hackney in blackpool.

The original thing was the using of the meter, what we used to do was use the meter and call it clock and a half i.e if it was 20 pound it became 30 and believe me this causes problems. So i quote if i want to people know the price before we set off.

I know when i was a hack with a meter i used it for every job from the start, no matter where it was going even if the office had imposed a price

BTW, what does your LO say?

In Blackpool you (hackneys) HAVE to use the meter, you cannot give a fixed price.

I'll be honest and say that I don't know whether (Blackpool) hackneys can refuse to go out of the borough or not. I do know that you are not allowed to refuse a fare except for the usual drunk, abusive etc. I can see nowhere on the official Blackpool tariff sheet where it says you can charge more than the metered rate for going out of the borough.

PH do not have to use the meter and can quote for jobs, however this cannot be more than the metered fare would have been.

What you are saying is that if you did a 7 mile job within Blackpool you would charge the metered rate, but if you did a 4 mile job that ended out of town you'd charge extra !
