Ive had my Cabcard machine for over 12 months now, I have gone over 4 weeks without using it a couple of times but never had any hassle at all.

It arrived today, nice compact easy to use machine.

I'll try it out tomorrow, I'm leaving the door signs off for the time being . . a gentle start to try it out.

I've still got the machine, and it's still handy.

There's a new free one being advertised around the London papers though, so I may look into that and see what it entails.

It's a hard wired system that sits in the rear of the taxi being offered by a company called Verifone.

There will be a catch somewhere.

The catch?

Another 'Cabvision screen' type device behind my head for three years.

I'll stick with my current one I think.

Why doesn't anyone seem to be using Taxi Pay if it's a cheaper surcharge?

Streamline 2.5% works for me.

Got my two best trips from cards yesterday both from incoming punters on the Eurostar, one to Heathrow going onto Reading, thank you, and then later in the evening one back home to a hotel by Luton Airport, even bigger thank you.

Both sets of customers had to walk down the rank to find me though.
Here was me thinking everyone had these card machines now.

Well that's over 2 years now and I've still using the machine daily.

Not as much as I used to as more and more cabs seem to take cards nowadays. I get more quick off the rank fares nowadays as I can take 6 in the Vito, opposed to the old 'do you take cards' ones.

They've just reduced the monthly hire to £10, although hard wired systems with cabvision type screens are available for nothing from other suppliers.
I just see chaos with them installing a hard wired system, so I'll stick with my oversized mobile phone! :D

Yep, but it has a slide strip on the side for foreign cards.

Yanks seem to like using Amex to pay for everything.
