You'll be breaking down next week with that rubbish in your tank.

How many millions of people fill up at supermarkets each week? How many of them have any problems?

You haven't answered my question yet. How many millions of people fill up every week at the supermarket and how many of them break down due to the fuel?

Grandad, It's a well known fact that Supermarket fuel damages your engine by making it run hotter or by bot having the correct additives in the fuel.

When someone who's been in the oil trade since he was 16 gives me information about supermarket fuel and the damage it can do to your engine my ears [edited by admin] up.

Try it like I did, I ran my motor on supermarket fuel for one week the difference was amazing, the car took longer to start, it ran rough as hell, I was getting low MPG, I didn' have half the pull off power I had when I was running on Shell the previous week.

A few months later I had a problem with the high pressure fuel pump, I took it over to G Diesel in Hucknall for Darryl to have a look at it. When he stripped it down his first words were "you've been runnning on supermarket fuel haven't you"? Now this didn't cause the damage but he could tell that I'd been running on Supermarket fuel and he showed me the damage it causes to the high pressure fuel pumps.

Use Supermarket fuel at your own risk, why do you never see Police cars filling up at ASDA or Tesco??

But that still doesn't answer the question that was asked. If supermarket fuel is so bad, why are they allowed to sell the stuff?

Hear, hear!!!

That's very true for diesel, but I don't know about petrol.

It's the fuel pump that gets knackered very prematurely.

I won't use ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrison, etc.

Ask the London cabbies, they'll tell you too.

Is it just a problem for taxis or all diesel engines? Why has there been no enquiry into this "problem" by people such as watchdog or which? Or maybe there has and someone can point me to it.

Petrol is worse Brummie, it runs at a much higher temprature causing the valves and the valve stem seals to burn and warp.

Diesel vehicles generally!!

BUT.

How many miles does a taxi do in a year compared to a diesel car?

You're hardly going to notice it in a car.

But cabs run on supermarket diesel will have fuel pump problems within a year, but the equivalent mileage in a car will probably take about 3-5 years to cover.

So who will equate such a problem with cars over such a long period?

Could it be a fault with the fuel pumps being fitted to the taxis then? Maybe there is something wrong with the design?

With the civil unrest in Egypt & possibly other countries in that region to follow, US crude futures went up by more than 4% on Friday alone.

When the markets open in the morning that could go up even higher!!

What's the betting that £1.50 a litre could be seen at Easter if this carries on?
