I turn jobs away for loads of reasons, drunk, glass in hand, food spilling all over, dont have enough money...the list goes on.Now if those same people want to go to a different hc or ph office so be it.I dont lose sleep over it.

Blackpool (AKA "quote button it no work"), you decline out of area work (for reasons beyond most on TDO) therefore I thought your chipshop would not want big orders.....

Is that the best you can come up with ? Not that good is it.Ive answered these isues many times.I think it was you originally who didnt even know you dont have to use your meter for out of borough work.So for your benefit i didnt say i DONT go out of town, what i did say was if i choose not to i dont.Wether it be i dont want to go for a underpriced journey,i dont want to drive 50 or 60 miles at 3 am,or i dont like the look sound of the fare(give you the money when we get there mate !)By the way thats why i chose to drive a hackney,if i wanted to run up and down the motorway for discounted fares id be on ph.Hope that cleared up your confusion

And the point of that is? :?

That it complies with The OFT suggested ratio & you yourself have championed the OFT's blabberings before.

So you, or they, are picking and choosing which bits of the report you/they want?

Your way out lads to thats not the point, theres plenty of cabs with drives available here, rent is cheapest its ever been..

Ah, so it's not about rank space or any of the usual self-serving nonsense, it's about ensuring drivers entering the trade pay either inflated rentals or inflated plate prices.

And because the recession has dampened rentals you try to make it look as if you're doing drivers a favour.

And this OFT ratio is what precisely, and what is its legal status?

Or is it just something you read in a newspaper and took it as gospel

And that's what de-restriction has done to taxi proprietor businesses nationally!! F*cked the whole game up completely!!!

Boo hoo - another profiteer crying into his pillow at night :-({|=

And your comments about chip shops and businesses demonstrate that you know as much about the real business world as you know about the correct use of the ampersand

I would say that depends on how you look at it. They do regulate businesses, but what you should be asking is, do they restrict businesses? For example if I wanted to run a businesses in a major shopping area the chances of me being able to purchase the property I wish to run the business from will be extremely low, unless I'm minted, therefore forcing me to rent, either from the council or the likes of Peel Holdings, at extremely inflated prices. Pubs and clubs are restricted to certain areas and certain hours depending on the areas they are in. The same goes for bookmakers and casinos. There is all kinds of regulation and restriction out there and I for one believe some of it is necessary

All businesses are regulated, it's just the type of regulation that's in issue, and anyone with any kind of nous knows the difference between quality regulation and arbitrary quantity controls.

Isn't the whole point of being in business to make a profit? :?

But what's that got to do with anything?

prof·it·eer /ˌpräfəˈti(ə)r/
Verb: Make or seek to make an excessive or unfair profit, esp. illegally or in a black market.
Noun: A person who profiteers.
