You are not getting it its not about getting an exemption so no matter how many times you mention it it will not make you feel better, its about a disabled driver having to put a wav on in a mixed fleet town when he is not able to assist wheel chair passengers.

Are you telling me that the only fares WAV's do in Dundee are wheelchair fares?

I think Captain Cabs assessment on all of this is pretty much bang on the button.

The union's strategy is not so much about letting the guy have a saloon plate as consolidating the existing saloon fleet. Of course, there's a slight contradiction there, and as Captain Cab says it might all blow up in their faces if the council got fed up and specified all WAV. So perhaps the saloon fleet could end up with WAVs and Bruce is one of the few with a saloon plate.

Incidentally, the point about the exemption is surely that it's for the driver, not the vehicle, but obviously he would prefer to run a saloon, as would all the other drivers.

And what is the relevance of the more or less identical Dundee case from a year or two back - didn't he get his exemption but the council said that the vehicle had to be a WAV because it might be driven by someone else?

What happened to that case, or is this the same one?

Different case that driver wanted a new licence Bruce wants a variation of his existing wav licence.

Again I ask, are there any multi plate holders in Dundee?

If that's all it's about, then he is likely to lose.

If he's after an exemption, he might get one.

But then again the DfT or whoever haven't designed the Exemption Certificate for not carrying wheelchairs yet; it's due in early 2011. So at the moment he can't have one anyway.

They've got the ED one though, but then that's no good to him.

I still like the idea of having a 100% WAV policy.

But allow drivers over a certain age to license saloons that can only be driven by licensed drivers over that certain age.

If he's so concerned about the disabled then why doesn't stationtone drive a WAV?

Didn't he say that he drove a saloon for an absentee plate holder?

What's the involvement of Tone's plateholder with the trade? Does he drive as well?

I go back to a point that hasn't been answered.

If I own 10 WAV plates and I find myself with a disability, if this thing is successful what is to stop me from getting them exchanged for 10 saloon plates?
