I don't want a hike in tariff.

I need one. But I fear that it will drive our customers away. Not least to a competition that offers a saving of up to 30%

Don't get me wrong, I know that Private Mire are shecht, their service is variable, they don't know where they're going and, to a fair number of them, the English language is a stranger.

But the public only sees £ signs and until they get burned, we lose out. Because the trade doesn't promote it's profressionalism.

But my bills are going up.

Leccy company, robbing Spanish "Scottish Power" basterds that they are, have just hiked their tariff by 9%. My monthly payment hiked from £84 to £116.

Car Insurance, Direct Line, just tried to increase our premium from £49 per mointh to £72 per month. Feck them. Aviva to the rescue.

Fuel at the start of my fiscal year 110.9p per lite now 131.9 per litre and rising.

VAT increased. Food bills rising. Increases in prices across the board.

Heard yesterday on the radio that interest rate increases are looming. It appears that because we can't control all of the bandits like energy companies, food retailers, fuel suppliers etc, their increases are fuelling inflation and interest rates have to go up.

We get shafted by the companies, and get shafed by the banking system because we're being shafted by those the government is failing to force to behave reasonably.

A souble whammy!

Can we continue to hold our prices?

Or do we go under anyway because of the fear of increasing them?

BTW Are we heading for public riots?

certainly is a horrible conundrum at the moment. i suspect that increasing fares will definitely reduce business. if interest rates and subsequent mortgage rates go up then that certainly won't help matters either. my best guess is that things are definitely going to get tougher before they get better. perhaps this may reduce the weekend SUD though, people are going to be forced to work the busier hours to get by, i myself am considering doing these shifts when previously i never considered it. what we really need is some government assistance, reducing duty or the likes, but i doubt we've got a cat in hell's chance of that happening.

Fuel round here £1.28 a litre Shell.

British Gas for Electric and Gas £80 per month every month X12

Taxi Insurance £1,100 yearly.

Private car insurance £250 per year + very low running costs.

Your in the wrong area youth.

Interest rates have to go up there's no more orifices the Tories can extract any more money from.

You never cease to amaze me with your ramblings, if you don't like the job find another one, they need burger flippers in MacDonalds, mind you swerve that one the workers in MacDonalds have Uni degrees you'll feel out of place.

If the UK was a company it'd be bankrupt by now. Things are not getting better anytime soon :sad:

But everyone is in the same [edited by admin].The way i look at it taxis are partly a luxury,especially in the daytime,people just havent the cash to spend.Look at pubs aswell ,not half as busy as they were.Weve just got to ride it out the best we can.It will get better.?

Got to agree with Taylor here

I don't want a fare rise but it is needed

However, the majority of customers at the weekend are 18-25 year olds with disposable income and the first 2 weeks into january I've found it surprisingly busy on the Friday/Saturday nights!

I agree also :shock:

Increasing for 168 hours a week would be close to suicide for our trade BUT i've longed for a party tariff :?: 5 hours saturday morning and 5 hours sunday morning, 12 midnight-5am, this tariff i believe would not only bail us out from bad weeks but would service demand during times of occasional high demand, a party tariff would also help the trade with any future survey's of demand :wink:

Lights blue touch paper at arms length.
Why not ask for a fare reduction down to the same level as the PH, it would generate more work at quiet times, and charge slightly more after midnight
Down here its cheaper in a cab than the bus for 4 folk on a local run, but you have buses that are cheaper due to all the different offers they have

You don't want to price yourselves off the planet

The tariff as it is now is fine thank you but a party tariff works in other area's :wink: Keep as is at times of low demand but raise at times of higher demand, more taxi's will work if a party tariff came in to Edinburgh :wink:

It's the same here with multi passengers Edinburgh city centre is small and many fares with 4 or more passengers can be half the price of a bus fare also 6 passengers to the airport is roughly the same as the cost of 6 travelling by bus

If they got rid of the bus pass things would improve party tariffs would not work and cause more aggro folk just want to get home at night and most just have enough to do so.
What you need is 3 tariffs day, night from 10 PM to 6 AM and festive season that's all, and no bank hols no extras, except for 5 to 8 passengers at fare and a half
