You obviously associate with the wrong type of taxi driver

Indeed.

However it made me chuckle hearing the the chap moan about non-locals taken all their work, operating under lower licensing conditions, and then have the brass neck to moan about the local knowledge indicating a Sat Nav will suffice.

An operator through and through.

I'm sorry, but if that is the best the cab trade can present.......then the cab trade is f*cked.

Since this is my first post, I would like to say what a brilliant forum this is.

As an ex PH driver in Milton Keynes (I drove PH for a few years around 10 years ago). Looking at going back to PH as I was made redundant.

Anyway the cross border thing was happening in those days, however drivers used the South Northants PH company as a training school in order to get the correct MK licences.
In those days there was enough work to go around. I remember picking up people on a Saturday evening, they booked there cabs for 7pm, and we were turning up 8.30. It was that busy. And you could never get a cab at 2pm, in fact when I applied for my licence in 1996 the licensing officer said that they turned there back on plying for hire in the early hours just to clear the clubs!

Anyway I am digressing , but I can only see part of the section submitted by MK Council, anybody else have the same problem?

Did any one notice that the first question was never answered.... and it was asked and asked and asked.... unite kept saying what they wanted... and the GMB were referring to Berwick... it became obvious that the Hackney and private hire trade and licensing officers.. in fact all the witnesses.... were speaking in Taxi language... and expecting the MPs to understand...
It was also made quite clear that this committee meeting was about the review of all hackney and private hire licensing.... is anybody prepared to make a list of what they thought the committee members seemed to be leaning favourably towards....

These are the only bodies out there that gave evidence to the select committee that are in any way connected to the licensed trades.

I accept that a number of NTA members, will have left it for the NTA to give a response, likewise with the GMB, UNITE & RMT.

Where is the NTTG response? Likewise with many associations and interested parties throughout the country.

One final question.....Addison Lee gave oral evidence......but no written submission, how does that work?

I have stated from the very beginning that UNITE had opened a Pandora's Box........I think I was right.
