Glasgow taxi driver stabbed in the back

A Glasgow taxi driver has been stabbed in the back in his cab in the early hours of the morning.

The private hire driver picked up three boys aged between 16 and 18 in Hope Street at about 0645 GMT and took them to Calfhill Road in Pollok.

Police said one of the boys stabbed the driver as the trio ran out of the car without paying. They made off in the direction of Linthaugh Road.

The driver made his way to the Southern General Hospital, where he was treated.

Det Insp Sam Carson said: "Words fail to describe how deplorable an attack this is.

"The taxi driver was out first thing in the morning trying to make a living; and to have been subjected to such a frightening ordeal is appalling.

"We are not sure why the three of them were in the city centre so early this morning, therefore I would appeal to anyone who was in Hope Street this morning and saw them get into a white Skoda taxi to get in touch."

Even the police make no distinction. I hope the driver is ok and makes a full recovery and I hope they catch these scum and give them a good sentence and not a slap on the wrist.

What a stupid remark. [-X

So if a tax dodger gets stabbed it doesn't matter as he was dodging tax.

Or someone speeding getting stabbed and robbed cos he was breaking the law.

Or a hackney carriage driver who cherry picked and got stabbed and robbed.

All that doesn't matter. [-X
