This 'barely legal' regarding the tyres is a bit of a quandary to me cos our LO insist that the tread on the tyres is at least 2mm instead of the legal 1.6mm

And do they also allow a tyre if it has only 75% @2mm?

Yes! you are allowed 75% of your tyre if it has the correct depth.

I was wondering if they are making up the rules as they go along, legal is 1.6mm and that should be suffice.

Yes! you are allowed 75% of your tyre if it has the correct depth.

I only learnt about this the other day. Apparently they won't allow you to continue working if your tyres are below 2mm but because they are still legal, providing you have 1.6mm on them, you can drive your vehicle home or to a tyre fitter to change them. They wouldn't be the first LOs to make it up as they go along :wink:
