The common denominator... in Dundee... between the taxi trade and the council... is the customer.... and if the taxi trade and the council work as a partnership to provide a first class service to the customer then everything works nicely.... to achieve this both sides has to understand the problems of the other... there will always be the noisy whingeing minority..... but sensible people see them for what they are...... and then ignore....

Yeah, but the reply from DCC and the Cab's Officer's is..."It's too hard to prove" more like they're quite happy as long as the streets are cleared !

Corporate plates is a mechanism used to bypass the CGSA and allow the sale of plates. There is no other reason why someone with an individual plate would want or need a corporate plate.
Talk of it betrays the intentions of those behind it.

In my opinion.........if you want a corporate plate, surrender the saloon plate and apply for a new one. And it should be for a WAV, same as any other new application.

Unless of course your applying for a license.....like a couple of people we know......who used the Ltd partnership thing to negate a possible loss?

Edinburgh went down this road years ago.
Almost all applications are corporate and they don't license saloons.

They are also almost always refused......

The saloon licence holders already hold a significant advantage over WAV licence holders. My suggestion gives them the choice of retaining the advantage or being able to sell up.

It does not allow them to sell the advantage as part of the deal.

I think there's a law against it everywhere.

Even in York, where if you break it you can get a free plate worth £40k. ](*,)

I dunno the answers but, i know the horse has bolted !

Yes you're right.......however.....look at jaspers answer.....encouraging cars out of the fleet? ffs.....the guy is an absolute joke with little comprehension or sympathy, because it goes against what he wants.

Re-regulation has to start somewhere.......if it starts here the one fact for all the damage it has done already is that it will not mean an increase in numbers.......its painful already, why make it worse?

So numpty bunch boy, tell us all why market forces applies to every other market sector but shouldn't apply to the cab trade?

What makes the cab trade different, why should it get special status?

A special status which Aberdeen's corporate services director stated was untenable?

Can't wait to get your answer to this

So did any of the intrepid 42 actually avail themselves of a corporate WAV licence? or did they all hold on to their saloons?
