You must tender to be on the Framework,

tenders (or “mini-competitions” as they
are also known) as many of you do now.

I like it ... "Mini_competitions", sounds like a Pygmy olympics...

These things are dreamt up by the suited ex-uniboys (and girls) sat in nice warm (or airconned) offices paid for by the taxpayer, earning a very nice salary with all the perks, thier brief is screw the cost of taxis down as much as possible, hence the new "online bidding in a "reverse e-bay-style auction" (i.e. the seller wins, not the sucker who bids lowest

Be no one to sell too if they make the job unprofitable........you can tell the council clucks have never had a real job in the private sector because they have'nt a clue that in the real world people need to make a profit, unlike the funny money that perculates through the corridors of city hall which grows in abundance on the community charge tree. :?

We even had a bad weather cancellation policy

wheras it was a drivers decision as to wether it was advisable to take the kids home early due to bad snow, we now have to ring the education, who will ring the school, who will ask the headmaster, then they ring the education with the answer then the education ring us to say yea or nay

Really appreciate all the good advice. Very true the councils know what the meter rate is and where to find the taxi's & PH's they license! I will tread with extreme caution. Thanks you.

im most cases its a DISTRICT council that plates cars, while its a COUNTY council that dish out education contracts, they will vet you and inspect your vehicle in many cases too, time was any taxi/ph would do, now its "approved" only and escorts require crb checks and badges too

mmmm, partly true but dont forget, a contract is work every week day (and saturdays for me), 34+ weeks of the year, sometimes its a four year contract too, and can be added too once its running

and the money is always in my bank by the 14th of every month (just had my january payment advice)

work on a total mileage round trip rate, as opposed to a meter rate which is just A-B loaded, 60p per every mile is sometimes better than a meter rate
