I am sure that I have seen on here that Hackney Carriages are exempt from the London Congestion Charge.

I seem to remember that the thing to do was get the letter saying that you owed, then return it pointing out that the vehicle is a properly licensed Hackney.

I've tried loads of searches but can't find the right thread.

Can anyone point me the right way please.

Thanks in anticipation.

Exemptions
You don't have to pay the Congestion Charge for any of the vehicles below. They're free automatically so you don't need to register with us.

Two-wheeled motorbikes (and sidecars), mopeds and bicycles
Black cabs licensed with Taxi and Private Hire (TPH)
Minicabs licensed with Taxi and Private Hire (TPH)
Emergency service vehicles, such as ambulances and fire engines
NHS vehicles that are exempt from road tax
Vehicles used by disabled people that are exempt from vehicle excise duty (road tax) under the 'disabled' class
Vehicles for more than one disabled person (for example Dial-A-Ride) exempt from road tax

Thanks to both of you, I have already gone through this.

There was a thread where someone sent in a reply to the fine notice and the fine was waived. I seem to remember there was even a reply from TFL quoted.

Any help apreciated.

London cabbies are, rest of us are not.

I think you will find that was a bus lane fine, not the dreaded congestion charge.

Maybe CtF is thinking of the time Skippy confused the bus lane fine with the congestion charge :-s

Some nice folk took a picture of me going over one of the bridges and said I must pay for crossing it
I told them to feck off as it was a taxi, and if they care to look at the sign on the roof and the plates on the front and back of my car they will see this
If they had any further problems with this they could contact my council and be told to feck off for the second time
no further action came about

Maybe a phone call to TFL asking for clarification may be a good idea.
