I'm all in favour of a poll.....but first don't you think that the facts of the poll should be right first.

Chelmsford Taxibus (not Cheltenham) has indeed bought four new TXII vehicles, not for taxibus services but to operate on Chelmsford ranks. The Company were limited in their choice of vehicles due to the dictates laid down by Chelmsford Borough Council in their granting of the licences.

Concern may be expressed by Yorkie into the reputation of the Company but they have certainly never operated in the

. Impecible maintenance regimes and a high class of passenger comfort combined with a modern fleet have made them the envy of many other less able operators.

For the record they do not own Airportcarz but share a common share holder.

they dont opperate to the fringes of the law? Bollox thier boss boasts they do

and there is nothing wrong with that, we do too, the fringes of the law is still WITHIN THE LAW.

Yorkie,

Are you referring to the order from Chelmsford or Cheltenham?

If its Chelmsford, heres the basic story for the thread

TRANSPORT: Taxi trade is smooth-running
PETERBOROUGH-BASED Conders, LTI Vehicles' main dealer for East Anglia, has won a contract to supply a new fleet of fully accessible purpose-built taxis to the largest taxi operator in Chelmsford.
Group Taxibus Ltd operates a wholly-owned fleet of more than 80 vehicles made up of Hackney Carriages, private hire, PSVs and coaches and has just commissioned Conders to supply them four brand new TXII vehicles, with more likely in the future.

Apart from the four H/C licenses already obtained by group taxibus, I suspect the remainder of the order is subject to Chelmsford council lifting numbers control. It would appear at the moment that the odds are in favour of delimitation but one never knows.

Best wishes

JD

Certainly is time Chelmsford delimited......they have talked, consulted and prevaricted until they cannot see any reason not to delimit. Never mind what the customers want.

But a lot of people seem to miss the point....what possible benefit would an operator have for putting lots of vehicles on the road if no one used them? The point is that the trade is there for professionally run outfits.

I don't disagree DAP.

I just think that the taxi trade is better served by a balance of independants and operators, people who want to take over the industry have no place in it.

No operator cannot possibly cover all the work in the area...competition is good it keeps everyone on their toes. There is a place in the industry for both small and large opeartors each specialising in their own field.

In view of this companies activities at Manchester Airport, I think Yorkie is totally correct in his call for a poll.

Or More of a debate on the issue. Further to this it may be in everyones interest to consider the thoughts of both Gedmay and JD on the developments at Manchest Airport in the Hearing Latest thread.

For what its worth I also think Yorkie was correct in stating the term fringes of the law.

I must admit DAP when I picked people up from a rank at 2.30am, when they are as [edited by admin] as farts, every single one of them comments on my professionalism, normally just before they [edited by admin] themselves and throw up all over my back seat.

I agree the trade is there for, as you put it professionally run outfits but with all due respect the people the HC trade deal with just want to get home, I think that your kind of operation deals more with the corporate side of the trade where the customers demand that little bit more.

The other thing is that the majority of non plateholder drivers rent their vehicles for a fixed weekly amount, if this were the case with your operation it would matter to you whether the cars were parked up or out working. This may not be the case with your company, and I'm not suggesting that it is, but it is for some and as a trade I think we are wary of such people.

Yep, for the new vehicles purchased in chelmsform, I'll take you to four 12 month old ones in carlisle that have been "rather well used"

Bejeezus GA you got the hat trick, I actually agree with you three times on the run!
