It would depend if I was the renter or the rentee.

If you were renting the car out to a driver.

I rent mine out by the mile. The drivers are on the books for their school runs but if they want to earn extra they rent the car from me and pay for each mile they drive. they do not pay any extra for fuel, insurance or maintenance. I recover the costs of running the car and that is about it. I want the people who drive my cars to earn as much as they can for themselves, after all, they are the ones doing the work. I also encourage them to hand out their own cards to customers that they pick up.

The Derby lads I know pay around £150/£180 a wk 24/7 for a hackney.
Personally I wouldn't rent my cab out apart to a select few.

If I paid £25,000-£35,000 for a motor I would be f***ed if I'm renting that out for £150 a week.

So how much would you spend on a motor so that you would rent it out for £150 per week?

It was a serious question. For instance, if the car cost £10,000 would £150 per week be OK? if you could get away with £5,000 would £150 per week be OK? Not all cars have to be brand new.

Around here, £200 - 250 a week rental will get you a saloon taxi that somebody paid less than £5000 for.
Nice earner for doing bugger all, courtesy of ACC.

There are not many hackneys that are run by the offices round here that cost anywhere near as much as that.

WTF?

You can rent a new Vito for £240 a week in London, 24/7.

Hmmmm why are we getting Asian lads from Derby working in our manor when the rents are that cheap?

Midlander,do you have a knowledge test?

I know a load of Derby Asians flooded the Matlock area a few years back as Derbyshire Dales had no knowledge test. They openly admitted they couldn't pass the test in Derby.
Whilst working at Download concert at Donington last year one such driver even asked where Derby station was....and yes he lives there!!!!
