My Hack (new E7) is not 2 years old yet. Last year my plate council test with MOT was 22nd March, this year, my yearly full plate test is 31st March.

I went today to pay for the plate (£466) but was told my MOT has ran out, (again my Taxi is still not 2 years old) and because MOT was not valid, I am unable to drive it till it passes the MOT!

So my car is booked in to have its Full plate test on the 31st(with MOT) the council have said their too busy to have it earlier, but have told me I am unable to use it till after it has its test and MOT, so I lose 9 days work because of the councils uncompetance of supplieing me with a test date before the MOT runs out!

Something is wrong here, what can I do other than paying someone else to do a MOT while having to have another one in ten days time?

I think you need to get an MOT first and then ruck afterwards.

I suspect they have rules which clearly doesn't take account of new cars and the effect that has on MOTs. However now really isn't the time to fight it, as you need to earn.

your vehicle doesnt need an MOT to be driven till its 3rd birthday, you can DRIVE it

next time make a note of the test date and pester early

Some LA's have a rule that hackneys and PH's need an MOT from new or at least the first birthday.

mot after 1 year old here, it might be wrong but i think that is the same rule everywhere that hackneys need to be tested once they are a year ol instead of 3 years for normal motorists, not sure if its the same for ph vehicles probally is cos they are still licensed vehicles

We have to have an Mot and taxi test from new here (Chester)

Believe it or not I have seen a Taxi fail with only 26 miles on the clock.
(it was only on emissions and passed after being warmed up a bit !!)

It is my understanding that legally a Hack needs an MOT after 12 months, PH after 3 years.
Some LAs may require a shorter time scale.

We had to have a MOT when new, Council have managed to get me a test this Monday, but its still 5 days with no car, lucky for me I can borrow my mates PH and still earn, but its odd that if your test includes a MOT, your shagged if its later in the month that the one you had the year previous.

You are correct in terms of HC.....not as right in terms of PH.

Would like to know which ones.....I know a taxi test is different.....but away from checking the meter what a waste of time.
