One of these days you might actually make a contribution to this forum without making an a*se of yourself.

Pot, kettle, black spring to mind.

What is it with guys like you Grandad, have you never thought to speak out against or to question anyone in authority? Are all your days throughout your pathetic little life spent fawning and tugging the forelock to those you believe have a higher status “Begging your pardon kind sir, can you please spare a shilling for a lowly taxi driver” Perhaps you would like to go back to good old days of hard days work for a damn good thrashing?

Do me a favour and ask yourself a question Grandad, “why do people treat me like the [edited by admin] on their shoes and why am I so acceptant of it?”

And to think people have died so that people like of you can have a voice.

Well begging your pardon guvnor but last month I took our LO on over a refusal to licence a vehicle and won. I put that victory down to my being prepared to work with the local council and not against them. Would you believe that the first booking I received after gaining the vehicle license was from a councillor who is on the licensing committee.
What chance would you have with your attitude?

So you do consider councillors as being in some sort of privileged position, a higher status perhaps than the rest of us mere mortals. You won nothing, “last month I took our LO on over a refusal to licence a vehicle and won” was this a court case or did they decided to let you have the licence because you were “prepared to work” with your LA? I am sure that someone like yourself Grandad would have no problem grovelling to their satisfaction. You should look at this little disagreement as a program of corrective training. Once you have learned to doff your cap, tug at your forelock and sit up and beg to your masters' satisfaction the licence was a given.

Not at all. The licensing conditions in our area are such that my vehicle did not meet the criteria.
I challenged that criteria and got my vehicle accepted.
Now what have you achieved with you pathetic little protest?

Did you challenge the council in court, or did you merely point out where the licensing conditions failed to accommodate your particular type of vehicle ?

I'm betting you were never in court and that you are full of shi*

I think that if you get something by persuading and convincing someone else is a good thing.

gary, you are getting nowhere.
But of course it's all part of your big plan,
It's always the next step where you are going to win.
But, tomorrow never comes!

I don't fear the future Frank, but you do, and that's why you are here.

That is just meaningless, would you care to expand?

Think of the council suspending your licence, the recession getting worse and the de-restriction of the trade. Now think of your health, your family and your home.

Security in life is mostly a superstition. It does not exist, but some people control you by giving you the fear of the future, what they can take away, and what you might lose as a consequence.

You, want to believe you have everything under control. The Government looks after the country and the Council and the Cab Inspector protect you and look after your little world. Everything bad in the world happens to someone else. It's even gratifying to hear stories about the misfortunes of others because it proves that you are one of the lucky ones, but here you are on a taxi forum arguing over what the future might bring.

Some people are terrified of change but change is inevitable. :-|

It's the same with any job that you need a licence for.

It might well be, but some people never worry about what they can't control and others do nothing but worry.

Personally, I don't give a shi*. I have no idea what the future might bring but to me, there is no sense in worrying about it.

A payout from the council would be nice and a hell of a lot better than killing myself behind the wheel earning shi* pins.

We shall see . . .

Is this an idiots outing for Uncle Tom's who claim to represent taxi drivers?

How many times, this is not about me, and it never was. This is about the guys you claim to represent.

For guys who claim to be the stalwarts of the trade you have a funny way of supporting you "members" and drivers.

Did you ever have a sense of humour or irony for that matter. I didn't even see it as a pop at you, me thinks you're getting paranoid

So you're not going to take the hint and leave this section to people who depend on their licence for their livelihood?

I guess your ego won't allow it, eh?
