Morning chaps
Bristol council has after 3 years of of pondering have eventually given the hackney trade a 6% fare increase.
Whilst we should be grateful of any increase theres's so little work and with all the fuel increase's etc this will be swallowed up without making any difference to any drivers struggling living standards.
My gripe is that the guy who gets to do the meter recalibrations in the city gets to charge us all £25 for the priveledge of our pay rise.
Now there are approx 800 hackney cabs plus a number of PH running meters using the councils tariff, now i'm not great with numbers but that works out at approx £20K, does that not seem a little excessive as it takes less than 5 minutes to recalibrate each meter or am i missing something?
When i mentioned this to one of the trade reps and asked why we as drivers couldn't get together and get the equipment needed ourself's his only answer was that this bloke has always done it
No wonder thats more than i grossed last year for a few days "work",anyone have any suggestions or opinions?
