Think I may have narrowed it down to either

A) Egr valve knackered?

B) Throttle position sensor knackered?

The cab ran absolutely fine for two weeks but lo and behold now once again not great!!! Which of the two problems above is most likely to cause the high idle problem?

Also, do these lumps pf rubbish have an idle air control valve on them at all?

Once again thanks to any reponse as i now have a constant headache!!!

Is your filter full of water again?? try draining it into a bowl

Fuel filter, there should be a drain plug on the bottom of it, slacken it and let it drain then tighten it back up and start the engine

if my filter has water in it will this cause the high idle problem? Once again thanks for all your input

I wouldn't like to say but it won't hurt to drain it anyway. If the cab is a fair age, it may have quite a bit of water in the tank as well.
My metrocab had a plug in the bottom of the tank for draining it out.
Run the tank till it's nearly dry and undo the plug, catching the fuel + water in a bucket and dispose of it safely.


Oh, and put a gallon in a can before you do the job. :wink:
