But the compensation you would receive in lieu of working would be peanuts, hence the reason most people try to get out of it, and usually do.
Then (with all due respect to yourself
!!) the defence pick out the jurors they don't like the look of, usually resulting in a room full of sympathisers to the yob in the box!
I still think a proper professional body of jurors would serve the legal system well, for both sides of the courtroom.
We found them guilty even though I was in awe of them in how they managed to do it.
