Have you ever wondered why nothing really changes in the taxi trade?

“Start a Union, join the BMG, the NTA, the TGWU, to fight for worker's rights.”

We've all heard the populist rhetoric but for some reason, it never quite lives up to our expectations.

Could it be that, with all the drum beating, and your commitment, you need to believe that, they and you, make a real difference?

So what's the truth, who is representing who, who benefits and who is ultimately responsible and accountable? :-|

Let me put it to you another way, if all these so called organisations are truly representative of the working man, then what the feck is the problem?

They are only representative of their members, whoever they are.

I would guess the total membership of all the associations/union relates to less than 20% of the trade.

So the answer to your question is that for 80% of the trade it's down to them.

Alas many of those 80% follow the agenda of the 20%. In other words they only have themselves to blame when it goes t*ts up.

As they say 'you've gotta be in it to win' and that applies to all the unions and associations. If you're not prepared to be heard and put your money were your mouth is then nothing is going to change for the majority of the trade

Of course it is, but, how often does it win

"Silence is one of the hardest arguements to refute" it is far easier to debate and refute those that actually say something

I don't mind that organisations like NTA don't represent the trade.

I merely object to their claims that they do.

They may not represent the likes of you but they certainly represent others in the trade.

Whom do you represent? Who respresents you? How is anything you do organised so that changes can be made, if that's what you want.

Councillors are political animals. They represent themselves first, and the electorate second, the trade Uncle Tom's are the same but on a different level. It's simply a case of, what's in it for me? A bit of blowing and back slapping recognition of how important they are, or perks, meet my chum. He can help you help me, nudge, nudge,

Try reading, The Prince by Nicolò Machiavelli.

It's your truth not the truth, nor was it an answer to the questions I raised but it never is I'm more than use to the twaddle you spout rather than answer a simple couple of questions. Your choice of reading matter would bore me senseless so I think I'll pass but thanks for the suggestion anyway :-|

You, Toots, are not on this forum because of the quality of the debate. You are here out of desperation. You need to be noticed. Some would say you are damaged goods.
