I don't care what the rest of the EU pay. I don't like parting with my hard earned and I earn considerably more per hour than I'd save by bending and welding up a new pipe.Different story if they weren't still made though.

interesting points, could i ask how HMG would pay to run the country other than by taxation? i suppose you dont mind living here but should you need doctors, NHS, schools, highways, police and all the rest someone else can pay for it?

I pay tax on my earnings,NI contributions etc etc. yet some scroat who sits on his arse all day gets all the benefits you mention for bugger all.
I grudge paying any tax but VAT really bugs me.

we all dislike taxation but thats the price of living in a welfare society and keeping police on the street and hospitals open

well, everyone is being hit the same, im vat regd, and i get 50mpg, so others are a LOT worse off than me

i have no debts, no HP, no base rent, no plate to rent and the wife works, and we have no kids to pay for (except juniors car insurance loans)...

fuel is only 1 portion of your costs, the jump from £1/ltr to £1.30/ltr cost me (a high mileage driver) about £15 per week but that served to reduce my tax bill too....

no wonder PH are cheaper than hacks

term time i spend £100/wk on fuel, it was £85, not much of the rise is down to the higher vat rate, most of its due to oil company rises, but i had a rise in contract payments exceeding the rise in september and due a nother now

New down pipe, all new mountings, nuts bolts and all the rest of it fitted.
Sounds pretty much as it did before, but at least I don't have to worry about if falling off for a while.
