If council has any chance of credibility playing silly buggers with council taxpayers money. Which just shows how little you know about the workings of councils.

Councillors have decided their regulations, officials will now ensure through the courts that they are maintained.

So, in your capacity as PH rep divorced, are you stating councils are not accountable?

In some ways if appealed, taking to crown court will certainly make it National without room for any doubt.

Do you have investment in CCTV marketing?

I just love all these councils who come up with all these ideas about the taxi trade...always at the trade's expense.
Age limits,specified colours,CCTV etc

If a driver doesn't want CCTV then surely that should be up to him. After all is it not meant for the safety of the driver....or is it.......?

Councils nationally are wetting themselves at the power their spy in the cab will give them. Soiled undergarments are even more likely that the Taxi driver will be paying for it!

So when someone attacks you, or does a runner, or makes a false accusation, councils will be wetting themselves??? :?

Do not get carried away with the emotive jargon, these cameras have but one purpose...a remote tool to spy on drivers activity.

Brighton council have already publicly admitted what a god idea it is to check on proper wheelchair practice. They forget the driver can turn them off, drape a tissue over the camera. That Audio was not allowed is another aspect they never thought of in their professional wisdom of the taxi trade, so excited they were about the ultimate spy in the cab. And to have drivers pay through the nose for it themselves created the damp patch if one was not there before!

I think, like the GMB, Council will soon have second thoughts too of all this and be thinking unkind thoughts of those that led them up the garden

CCTV systems for £700? you can pick up better on Ebay for less than £350!

THIS IS NOT ABOUT PUTTING DOWN CCTV

ITS ABOUT THE DRIVERS CHOICE TO HAVE IT AND TO CHOOSE THE SYSTEM THAT SUITES THEM AND NOT THE COUNCIL

I am quite certain most drivers would like to have this-but on their terms without the need to also underwrite the brown envelopes as well for the chosen few systems.

Not emotive, factual.

The safety features far out-way the snooping features, but IMO the cherry on the cake is keeping an eye on certain iffy drivers.

Well that's democracy. If the council wish to amend their policy then so be it.

Thats because up high in their Ivory towers they are immune to the austerity that currently blights the rest of us plebs...they live in a different world, a world not blighted by the credit crunch or a shrinking customer base and where working hard in an effort to earn modest wage is of no concern to them.

Its Council heaven...

You are unbelievable! If council want a tool to keep an eye on "Iffy drivers" then let the council pay for it! Trouble is Council will abuse this just as they do all else
