Quote:
A Crown Office spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal at Edinburgh received a report concerning a 25-year-old male in connection with an incident on January 1, 2011.

"After full and careful consideration of the evidence in the case, Crown counsel decided that there should be no criminal proceedings."

It was the Niddrie post code that got the cop off, no doubt about it. That's what they mean by “careful consideration”. He was only lucky he never got an award for service to the community.

This officer should have appeared in court, at the very least to explain why he didn't stop as required by the very law he's paid to uphold.
It should have been for a jury to determine his innocence or guilt, not some private stitch up in the PF's office.
BTW how old was his granny?

This just stinks. Justice avoided is justice denied.

We don't have Justice in this country gusmac, what we have is the LAW. I got that little nugget from a lawyer.

They would have dug the cabby up and suspended his licence. Image

Not before writing to him to tell him that if he didn't turn up for the hearing then his case would be considered in his absence.

And that failure to turn up for the hearing would negate his right of appeal under the CGSA

I can see it now. Scumbag Keir, congratulating himself for showing the system how he had ingratiated himself to it, by stiffing a stiff

BTW Wanna bet the hapless cab inspector would be insisting all along that he had read this guy his rights? Honest M'lud, my finger buddy John here M'lud, he'll tell you that I did everything by the book. I took his failure to answer as proof that he understood the nature of my caution

Cop for that
