Thats a appalling.....If any one else done a Hit and Run they would be jailed...it stinks!!!

It was the Niddrie post code that got the cop off, no doubt about it. That's what they mean by “careful consideration”. He was only lucky he never got an award for service to the community.

This officer should have appeared in court, at the very least to explain why he didn't stop as required by the very law he's paid to uphold.
It should have been for a jury to determine his innocence or guilt, not some private stitch up in the PF's office.
BTW how old was his granny?

We don't have Justice in this country gusmac, what we have is the LAW. I got that little nugget from a lawyer.

They would have dug the cabby up and suspended his licence.

Not before writing to him to tell him that if he didn't turn up for the hearing then his case would be considered in his absence.

And that failure to turn up for the hearing would negate his right of appeal under the CGSA
