A chap has taken the time to write into our local paper bemoaning the fact that Star cars of brum are a cheaper taxi than his local taxi firms now he has moved, they (the locals) even charge extra after midnight, and he wants, nay demands, cheaper taxis back from the pub (which should be shut before midnight anyway)

so ive replied....

English is just so complicated, you use the "I" before "E" except after "C" rule and its still bloody wrong...you just cannot win.. :roll:

Its hard to spot...but there is two thiers that ought not to be there, whilst there is not two theirs where two theirs ought to be...make sense now?? :?

I missed the first one. But if you were to do the corrections then the theirs would be there and that would mean that they're correct.

Taxi fares have left me fuming

As a new resident in Fazeley, could someone from Tamworth Borough Council explain to me the extortionate – for want of a better word – taxi fares?

I have recently moved from Sutton Coldfield, where taxi fares over the same distance are approximately 40 per cent cheaper, and there is no premium rate related to the time you travel.

For example, an eight or nine-mile journey with Hotline or Star Cars from Great Barr to Sutton Coldfield is £8, at any time of day or night.

From Sutton Coldfield to Fazeley is £12, yet I was recently charged £6 from the Plough to the Queen's Head.

When I enquired in Tamworth how much it was from Fazeley to Sutton Coldfield, I was quoted the same £12 but then I was quoted a £22-£24 return after midnight. Why?

In the above named companies and those in Lichfield and Walsall, the fare is the same any time of day or night. It is the same fare back as it is there and a lot cheaper.

And police and the council wonder why drink-drive campaigns do not work.

The solution is cheaper taxis.

Frustrated Fazeley Resident.

I missed the first one. But if you were to do the corrections then the theirs would be there and that would mean that they're correct.



I would think the use of the word "their" is right in both Instances as its use implies the word "their" is to indicate possession.

What kind of a MORON would drive under the influence rather than pay a decent rate to a TAXI Driver.

And what kind of a MORON would work for the same rate after midnight.

Private Hire cars are notoriously cheap, the rates are set so that the drivers work for well below minimum wage and claim back the difference in WORKING TAX CREDITS, so WE ALL are paying for Frustrated Fazeley residents journeys, when he uses a PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLE, but NOT when he is using a TAXI. Which is fairer, what do you think?
