Yes, he wants borrowing powers so he can thrown money at his cronies and freebies for the electorate.

Just Gordon Brown on a smaller scale.

Question: Name a Unionist who could take our Alex Salmond on when the debate on independence comes around

Nominations please

I think the only person from England that still want's the union is David Cameron.

I think the only people wanting us to remain in the EU are corrupt politicians, and they wouldn't dare do a referendum on that issue.

It'll be an interesting few months, especially if what was reported in the Sunday times is correct.

I don't think the Scottish Government has the power to order a referendum, so I guess it'll be down to Cameron. My guess is that it'll be earlier than the SNP want.

The issue of change to the CGSA has been well lobbied, it's now much easier to change Legislation now that the SNP have the Mandate to do so :D :D

With the will of our trade we can close loopholes that allows easy access to the PHC trade by infiltrators from organised crime gangs, this is the key  The SNP unlike Labour are standing up and are up for the fight against infiltration by organised criminals.

This so reminds me of New York in the 1930s

Your knowledge of Alex Salmond shows through your posting, Trust me Alex Salmond will show the Scottish People that he is thinking and acting for the benefit of the future as he did overthe previous 4 years :D :D

Your right  The SNP don't have the legal right, the legality of a vote must come from Westminster

On the issue of the vote Alex Salmond is playing a great game, The SNP have got their arguments for independence already, if Cameron doesn't give way on more powers, this will only add to the argument for independence, we could have the vote tomorrow but why should we when we have 5 years to show up what is really going on

Alex Salmond will wipe the floor with boy David  Anymore Nominations

Indeed, which makes him a lesser man than Nick Clegg.

At least Clegg didn't run from the idea of a National Referendum, and he has had the good grace to admit defeat.

See that's the bit some up there don't get.

I repeat I, along with IMO the vast majority down here, couldn't give a flying f*** what the Scots do.

As has been mentioned the EU control most things anyway.

However one thing is for certain, should the Scots vote to go away, and that's we will get a extra hour's sunlight in the evening. :D

Indeed, but Clegg sold his soul for that referendum and now has nothing to show for it apart from a party that's slowing imploding and could end up spit asunder or even destroying itself.

The Scottish party's vote was decimated because of the Lib Dems' Faustian pact with the Tories for the referendum - which even Clegg described as a "miserable little compromise" and no one apart from the anoraks were interested in - and the Scottish leader has gone with no obvious replacement.

And in turn this has handed the SNP a majority in a Parliament supposedly set up to avoid just that scenario.

Thus Clegg's thirst for power could end up destroying both his party and the UK.

The Scottish Parliament can have a consultative referendum, which wouldn't be binding but apparently Westminster won't stand in the way if it's won or get sniffy about the legal niceties.

There have been calls for Westminster to legislate for one soon to spike Salmond's guns, but it seems that Cameron thinks that might have the reverse effect if Scots thought they were interfering, but who knows?

A bit more to it than that Reggie - if that was the case then he wouldn't be planning to wait a few years.

But as far as independence is concerned the SNP won't have the support of the likes of the Sun, the Daily Express and prominent Unionists like David Murray. And the opposition parties will be united.

A lot of people voted SNP on Thursday on the basis that the Union would continue, not that it would be torn apart. Even then the SNP vote was 44%, and half the population didn't even vote.

It'll be a whole different ball game.

Looks like you have realised it's a win win :D

Yes the electorate did vote for the SNP on the basis that it was the best party to run government

Having a majority for 5 years allows the SNP through changes to influence how Scotland progress's for the next 20 years, independence or not

The result of an overall majority was a freak result and may never happen again, but it's what the SNP will do over the next 5 years that will count

We SNP supporters are realists and so is Alex Salmond
