what was the minimum or average wage back in 1990
An how much was the average taxi driver earnings?
Just a little question I was thinking about.

Dunno, but I seem to remember filling up with petrol (four star) for about 55p a litre in my 1987 MG Montego.

It was cheaper than that GBC. I remember running on £6 worth of diesel all night back in 1990.

Not sure there was a min wage back then.

As for the average earnings, well I suspect not much difference to today's. :sad:

The National Minimum Wage Act 1998 creates a minimum wage across the United Kingdom, currently £5.93 per hour for workers aged 21 years and older, £4.92 per hour for workers aged 18–20[1]. It was a flagship policy of the Labour Party in the UK during its 1997 election campaign and is still pronounced today in Labour Party circulars as an outstanding gain for ‘at least 1.5 million people’. The national minimum wage (NMW) took effect on 1 April 1999

in 1991/2 I was in my 1st year trading as a PH owner driver with a Chrysler alpine, I had ambulance PTS work off North Wales ambulance, diesel was 44p/ltr, i was getting 25p per (every mile) and actually making a profit out of it, i was THEN charging 90p per loaded mile cash work....

now its £1.41 a ltr (3.5 times more) and i cant get £1 PLM...

I thought the min wage is now £6.85 for over 21s

dinnae, bad enough as it is for shug (our treasurer) to balance the books with 3 drivers less than needed. rates as per government website

I knew there was a 6 and 8 in it but thought there was a 5 somewhere
