A suspension and a "VRQ", which is not a spelling mistake, was given to a Plymouth Hackney Driver - this meant he could do the "NVQ" or the "BTech". Funding available for the "NVQ" so that is what the driver went for.
Filled in the forms, did nothing else, got the "NVQ". Nice little earner for someone.
Is the public protected by this scam? In no way!

I'm with CC on this - it's a load of "expensive to the taxpayer" boll*x.

I will always say, if I have driven a sherbet for as long as I have then a p*xy course of whatever type is a complete waste of my time.

Do you think these particular courses would have more value if the drivers had to pay for them? I agree entirely with the your point of percieved value, but, I wouldn't be happy if I had to pay for an NVQ because there is actually no real value to it cos there is no substance within the NVQ or Btec. Having said that I'd rather sit in classroom and do a Btec than fanny about with an NVQ

How do you get the knowledge to pass the B tech without doing the NVQ?

The same way you get any knowledge, you learn it. A Btec/VRQ is the theory and the NVQ is the practical

Stab in the dark guess Toots not squared, suspicion of "vested interest"?

(Writer puts on Tin hat, daubs face with camouflage paint and runs for cover.)

We could do with a coward emoticon.

My point is that you deliver something that you think has no value,

You're quite right I do. Having done that and spoken to lots of drivers it has become apparent to me that drivers don't mind the 'training' and wouldn't mind paying for the 'training' if it was actually relevant. I may well think the NVQ has no value but the time I spend with drivers has lots of value IMO

For both. Drivers sometimes have lots of questions.
