We did our first assistance dog job today after 8 years in the game. We are only a small town but the owner did say that there are a couple of drivers here that have refused him and his dog. I told him to ring us first in future, his dog will always be welcome.

But did you tell him to complain about the other two that had refused to take him?

Of course but as per usual around here, he can't be bothered. He even said that one company that did carry him charged extra for the guide dog.

Usually you find that disabled people that have been refused service or charged for carrying a dog, or extra for the time to load a wheelchair, fall into one of two categories; those that can't be ar*ed and those that complain with a real, 'throat-slitting' vengeance.

It's either one or the other end of the spectrum. There never seems to be a measured team approach to their problems.

Perhaps the disability groups should prepare and publish a Best Practice Guidance in the art and skills of properly complaining in such cases.

Then people like your guy would have a 'template' for the course of action he should take.

No, it's merely a breach of the acts.

Good for you, its certainly a secure job in London as every street seems to be filled with a least 23 Buses, all empty of course.
