Posted here ~ and not wanted a debate!

Ah ~ I now see the bit about being a new Member.

My own feeling is that this is the wrong way of approaching the problem.

As the Owners of the Property, they are quite within their rights to charge for Entry (or Exit).

However, I can see no reason that it should not become Mandatory for such Charges to be clearly/boldly advertised at the points of Entry and Alightment.

A mate emailed this link to me and just thought some people may feel the same I would never be stupid enough to debate with seasoned taxi and hackney drivers. as the bumper sticker says taxi drivers and hairdresser's should rule the world. would be a boring world if we all agreed :D

I can't remember the last time I paid to park at an airport.

Wonderful things these mobile phones.

Some members like Skull and Jasbar could be said to be mass debaters, or something like that.

We did crap at the Olypics then.
What happens in the world to make the fuel price go up? Do we need to make plans to leave the planet yet?

Sorry, but I won't be signing this petition as I believe the charges and the very short stay car parks serve some very useful purposes.

I agree, can you imagine heathrow with a free for all?

FFS, it'd take an hour to exit once you've passed the 2000 touts all parked up plying for hire.

Do we live on the same planet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Heathrow T3 is mess with all the cars trying to wait to pick up in the drop off zone but charging to drop off would make things worse EFFECTIVE traffic management is whats needed I.E. traffic wardens that don't turn a blind eye !

I thought we were discussing car parks, not drop off points?

The system at Heathrow for dropping off works to a certain extent at the moment, as in you only get a few minutes and you're moved on.

I still support charges for the car parks. Free car parks means less business for the taxi trade and more gridlock for the trade which is left.

I agree we should have to pay something for parking-heathrow currently £2.70 for up to 30 mins then £4.50 for 30mins-60mins - vat goes in this so still quite reasonable, car parks clean and bays marked out clearly, car parks close to terminals.Gatwick getting beyond a joke now if you're there over 30mins,remember south terminal car parks along way from arrivals points, big walk there and back and £5.60 if 30mins-60mins!!! That 31mins parking could cost you in effect £11 an hour,i've paid £2.60 extra for 19 secs at the old tarriff, just went over 30mins by 19 secs.

Heathrow put charges up every year at 1st january, gatwick went up 1st jan and again around june 2011,thats twice this year.I think the drivers are the cash cow who are helping pay for the terminal improvements and runway resurfacing thats imminent!!! I know gatwick do the cheap £1 for 15mins at south and free 10mins at north but regular drivers picking up with name boards are being punished ahead of occasional public traffic who wait for friends/relatives to ring before wazing in the terminal to just pick up.

One positive is that at the moment NEITHER charge for dropping off-long may that continue.

Signed, but there is another problem with Heathrow car parks for me. I can't get in them!!!! My height limit is 2.2m and the car park is 2.1.

I stopped to pick up at the drop-off and got told to go to the car park. I explained I wouldn't fit in to get told wait at T3. I was picking up a young girl going to summer camp who didn't speak much English and had just traveled on her own from Russia. The person who meets them from the plane has to stay in the terminal so I have no way to get her to meet me at the car.

Am I really expected to collect her from the terminal and try and get her to walk to T3?

Yes you are. We bring plenty of Chinese students in who can't speak English without any problems. They all have to make their way to T3 even if they have landed at T4 of T5.

Bournemouth airport charge £2.50 for drop off or pick up. There is no where to pull up free of charge. They have built expensive new terminal buildings and guess this is a way of raising revenue. You used to be able to drop off or pick up for free as long as you were not there for more than 10 mins.
