Well today was the funeral of our good mate Micky Pollard, I got up nice and early showered and shaved ready for the off. I set off at 9:30am up the good old M1, when I came to the M1 A1 link road my engine management light came on and the car slipped into limp mode   40MPH tops.

I managed to get it onto the hard shoulder and killed the juice. I got it started and all seemed OK for a few miles when it came on again, this time it wouldn't re set itself and refused to go above 40MPH. I had no option but to phone the AA to come out and have a look. One hour later I was still there waiting for them when 30 minutes later they decided to turn up.

He hooked the car up to his scanner to see whatwas going on, the fault came back as a faulty EGR valve, he tried to re set it but the fault kept coming back, he asked me where I was off to? I said a funeral in Birtley Co Durham. He said we can get you there but we can't bring you back, we can take you home now but you'll have to wait until a wagon is free to come and load your motor on the back.

As you can imagine I didn't make Micks Funeral the result is I'm f***in gutted.

I hope he does, I don't want him waiting for me when I meet my maker with Mick stood at the gates saying, "handsome if you haven't got a ticket your not coming in".

He probably was, I did look up into the sky at the time and had a little chuckle.

sorry I didnt see you mate.

It was well attended and I saw my old mate Paul from formerly 'Upfront' fame.

I've been trying to think of words to put as a tribute to Mick.......my absence of them has been noted by some (given my reputation).

Seeing laal girls crying and upset about their loss kind of says more than I could ever do.....ever.

The thing I want to remember was that Mick was my friend.

And I regret deeply being p*ssed off with Mick the last time we met.

I sincerely hope, as has been conveyed by others, he is sitting up there, having a pint of my favourite black stuff, with my old nemisis JD, having a good f*cking laugh at me scrambling over keystrokes.

Wayne KC

Midlander, do you drive a Mondeo? If so are you fixing it yourself?

If you are, you can get the part from a Jaguar dealer instead of a Ford dealer, it's the same part and about half the price and a piece of [edited by admin] to fit.

I was in my own car mate a Vauxhall Signum, it's booked in this morning to be fixed. It's a clogged up EGR valve.

Really good to see you also KC! All I could say to his youngest daughter was that her daddy was a special man who we will all miss, and that she can be proud of him.

As for breaking down - well - dont worry, it happens and wherever he is, whatever he's doing rest assured he was chuckling at your struggle!
