maybe i'm missing something here but virtually every plate/position for sale that has been advertised over the last few years has been of higher value when being sold with a city/central position. surely the only handicap of being with either of these companies is between midnight and 4ish on a friday or saturday night. but regardless of this, i for one would be interested to know how much the successful applicants are willing to cash in for.

yes Ali, but any prospective buyer of a plate may want to do so on the basis of trying to get a position. assuming that its not going to be possible for that particular plate number to ever achieve a position i'd have thought that would have a slightly detrimental value to the plate?

not really interested in buying a plate at the moment, they'd have to come down in value a fair bit.

Regulated Restriction is decided by politicians, Restricting licence increases by increasing the New licence fee granted to that of the current market value of licences being traded on what i call the grey market,Restriction this way would keep the Survey of demand so any future increases would take both in to account.

The system in Edinburgh operates this way but without being recognised and accepted, The only player in Edinburgh who doesn't profit from the trade in plates is our council, through change to the current CGSA (alteration or amendment) this will allow our council and all Scottish councils to profit from the trade in plates, as they do in Sydney, New York, Barcalona etc

The way I see it with Plate values is this: They were at their peak around Three and a half years ago, when yours truly bought in, (lucky white heather).
They've dropped by about 10/15k, but they will rise again. It's a chance you take. However, Owners are no' daft, if they see the Plates starting to shift again, the price of them will go up. As I say it's a chance you take, wait on the price falling further, or increasing. Meanwhile yer' renting.
Unless you believe de-restriction is going to happen, some folk said that was just around the corner, 6 YEARS AGO.

The wording for the change in Legislation that will allow our council to profit from the trade in plates

It might be a while but don't expect any increase in the number of licences as the debate and consultation process will take time

and then again they may not, myself im not one of those guys who buys ppi's extended warrenties etc i prefer to keep my options open and if i wanted it at a later date id buy.

btw what on earth makes you think that any new plates will be barred from getting into city/central anyway.
