It's only a pity. We couldn't hang the ba*tards as they did him.

i think ewan aitken may have that on the back of his mind....he was a tad sweaty.
maybe the Arab spring will turn into the Scottish winter.......now wouldn't that be nice.

seriously though its about time this council was emptied from top to bottom its full of a shower of abusive [edited by admin].

the 15 suspended will probably get a huge payout and a handsome pension to boot it makes me sick.

Do you think the bewildered herd will be outraged, not a bit of it? They might moan a little, but they will pay up as they always do.

“ The needle returns to the end of the song, And we all sing along as before”

This whole system needs re-organised with real accountability built in. People should not be rewarded for fu*king things up or being corrupt. At the very least they should lose their pensions and find themselves unemployed.

We elect dictators and expect them to represent our interests while lining their own pockets and the bewildered herd buys into this crap. Your average UK citizen is so ignorant, stupid and gullible it's hard to believe.

Talk about living in a Dream World, you couldn't make it up.

Projects like the Edinburgh Trams should come with the proviso, if you sign off on it, and everything goes horribly wrong. Your pension is forfeited, and you're out of a job. Starting with the councillors themselves and those in the executive being paid their ridiculous salaries.

Without accountability, there is no democracy and no real representation. :-|

you may well have a point skull but quoting a del amitri song [-X

more appropriate line from the same song - "every third car is a cab"

altho in your case perhaps the last line in the chorus is more apt

Skull, I'm going to state the obvious, ( a bit like what you've been doing ). The "Money Men" put the people who are in power, in power. Sad, but true. There's nowt' we can do about it. They have the resources, we don't. Apathy, for me, set in a long time ago, and if anyone thinks yer' vote makes a diffirence.... well, good luck tae' ye'.

Citevictor, what do you suggest ?. Take to the streets/ Civil disobedience ?. Millions of Anti-War demonstrators tried that. Did it change anything ?. Maybe we should just do what you do, remain anonymous and make silly videos !.

Ah Diesel, if I answer your comment do you promise to enter the debate and not to run away back to your council induced coma?

Think of your world as being totally dependent on your council. They own the illusion you are allowed to live until decided otherwise. Your “business” taxi and plate how you see yourself, your actions and your dress code, is all manufactured by the C. E. C. Nothing, zero, zilch, nada, is under your control not even your tariff. You are chained hand and foot to the belief that one-day. Someone might take over where you left off. The irony is, you need a slave equally as gullible as yourself to free you from your bondage. The truth is, everything you think you own, actually owns you. You are the archetypal happy slave living in fear of a day that might never happen.

I only hope it's worth it. :-|

Last week a young guy blew £1.5 BILLION ! (UBS Bank). The point I'm making is, that wasn't our fault but one way or another we will pay for it. We don't, and never will have control.

btw watch how the focus goes from council employees/councilors to the contractors who just gave a kick back to someone who should be above it.

To live in fear is what it means to be a slave and fear is a question of control, yours or theirs, it has nothing to do with rent, etc.
