A source from inside the very bowels of the C.E.C. has reported that de-restriction will happen within the next 2-3 years. The reason why is anyone's guess, but the information was passed to a plate holder from a long-time friend, working in the Council.

Now don't shoot the messenger, you know as much as I do. :-|

Incidentally, this taxi owner is nearing retirement, which makes me think there might be some substance to his story. He wouldn't tell us why only that it was now on the cards. :-|

I [edited by admin], you not, and I swear on the life of my children this was the information I was given.

Seriously, I've known for a couple of weeks and didn't really believe it myself. :-| It's not a wind-up. :-|

It's on the cards because it is not legally sustainable. End of.

Edinburgh is being dragged kicking and screaming. But they will have to tow the line.

Now, can anyone explain why they are reluctant to see common sense?

Bowels of C.E.C being a very apt description since bowels are also usually full of crap.

I was informed some months ago that the Council had no intentions of lifting the restriction on numbers. =D>

Nice try though.

You might well be correct but times are changing, what used to take years, can now happen in months. We couldn't find out why this was said, but it did come from a reliable source, and through someone no longer involved in the politics of the taxi trade. It was completely unsolicited information. The timescale of between 2-3 years, was also quite specific. It sounds like to me someone knows something more than they are telling. Whether it will happen or not is anyone's guess. You never know, Dougie's medallion scheme might be in there somewhere.

Skull, what are you like, eh ?. You’re predictions are about as reliable as Harold Camping’s. (the Rapture fella ). Here’s one o’ mine. Next RC meeting, Jim’s application refused, no S.U.D. Then the phone call to the Missus.
“ It’s me hen, I’ll have to carry oan’ renting am afraid, but there’s some light at the end o’ the tunnel. Skull says he has it on good authority that De-restriction is gonna’ happen in 2014. What age will a’ be then hen ?”.
hahahahahaha.......( A source from the very “Bowels” o’ the C.E.C.) hahahahaha....... Brilliant Skull !!

I notice that you’ve also taken an,“Oath” to prove how honest you’re being Skull ?. Reminds me o’ the auld days in the Boozer, ( Ye’ ken which one). The Tiddly’s came oot’ wae’ better ones, eg.

“Ma’ granny’s eyesight if am tellin’ a lie”

“God strike me doon’ stiff stone deed and blind”

“ May the hare that that lurcher caught on it’s first “Chase” come back oot it’s mooth, jump up on that table, and take sip o’ that pint, if am’ tellin’ a’ lie !”.

Still convinced nae’body, but good fun tae’ listen tae’, like you.

It's all hearsay on the part of the driver departing, he's obviously wants to ruffle the remaining and sees Skull as the best way to do it, the economy is failing worldwide so why would one region of Scotland be ready to epic fail like 75% of the UK and the rest or Eire?

Someone wants to play Skull, they obviously have him drawn in as a mate, but want to play his mind, and what better way than to offer him a way back in, cruel but obviously a necessity, I would strike the informant off my Xmas list myself.

Doom, there's nae' "driver departing" mate. There are however people, (Voices, really), playing with his mind. That's his own fault tho'. I've told him repeatedly to buy the dearer tin-foil. That heed o' his needs protecting !.

As you know I've had my spats with Skull, the things that strike me are you won't change the mans mind, he makes good point about oppression, but his idea of who is doing it is wrong, we are simple folk ploughing through life, his ideals are Utopian, and in Utopia he would be 100% correct, however as Utopia will never exist due to mans brain his argument will always be flawed, but I've found some common ground with him, and if the world should go all Mad Max, I would make a friend of him simply because he is programmed to cope with what is fair should the capitalist world cease to exist, in the mean time I will have to resist him because it is a captalistic world and you either sink or swim.

Sounds a bit like that one from the TDO Edinburgh derestriction thread echo chamber.

Or the Edinburgh Derestriction comet - it reappears periodically

Edinburgh is too small to de- restrict again ... traffic management has to be its major concern.
