Get a large pot, the Germans make a decorative one called a Rumptoff, which has a close fitting lid. Half fill it with Vodka and some Caster Sugar. Peel, core and quarter Pears, dropping them straight into the liquor. Keep adding pears, or Vodka, until your pot is full.

The pears must be covered, by the Vodka, at all times and, once peeled, must be dropped into the Vodka immediately or they'll go brown.

Allow to mellow, checking for quality, now and again!

Just make them into pear wine. I did this a few years ago. They make a quite nice dessert wine.

Your taxi trade is a perfect example of a huge and potentially powerful industry with no control over anything. You don't seriously believe this is all an accident, do you? :-|

It used to be free until the wrong people took an interest in it, the Addison Lee type companies, now it's plagued with "crackers" enslaving both black and whites this time, I know a lot is now flawed, but opening doors isn't going to help anyone trust me I've been there and still have to sit amongst the irreversible damage.

Until driver and owner controls are properly regulated to keep baron's and unsuitables out there can be no de-restriction, in fact PH currently needs restricting, whether that should be done on plate issue or companies having to prove they can feed the numbers remains to be seen, but one thing I do know is if 50 mugs appear at the door of a PH office that is struggling to supply work, the owner of that firm will still take them on because of their sheer greed.

That's got feck all to do with it either.

Listen, having control over your own industry is not expecting those currently in control to regulate it for you. Don't you see? You are always looking outward for a solution. You perceive to be in the hands of those in authority. It's a control mechanism.

If we were all educated enough to develop a consensus of what represents our interests we wouldn't be arguing about what they allow us to have. We'd be taking control for ourselves.

The Legal fraternity is a classic example of those who regulate their own industry and represent their interests. Lawyers don't mug each other for jobs. It's a hierarchal carve-up.

Most come from privileged backgrounds or are at the very least, well-educated enough to know not to work against their own interest.

The taxi trade, on the other hand, is the flotsam and jetsam of society and a dumping ground for the bewildered herd.

You have no control over your own industry and therefore, the power to change anything. The rest is history. :-|

I thought you might have come back on this one, Doom?

Btw, this is not a philosophical debate about political systems, this is simply the way it works. :-|

It's all yours Doom, click on the link below and read a speech that travelled across the world before the use of the internet.

I believe socialism to be a greasy pole where man's greed is ultimately his own undoing. However, click on the link and read Jimmy Reid's speech. It needs revising but a lot of what he said is still relevant today. In fact, probably more so, especially after the London riots.

So I take it, you agree with Jimmy Reid? :-|

Here's a thought. Take some council property (taxi licence) and allow it to be incorporated and traded between those desperate to purchase the illusionary status of businessman. However, remain in total control of your property by using the threat of de-restriction as a gun to their heads.

Instant archetypal slave committed to defending an illusion afforded him by those in control.

Once you've bought in, they own your as*

Is the above not the reality of the situation? :-|

What do think Doom? :-|

Take the Dougie Smith's and the Fairplay's of this world. They buy in making a huge commitment in the belief. They must own something. In truth, and at very most they bought a job. Their owner, is the C.E.C and the only way to free themselves from their chattels, is to have someone as ignorant as themselves, buy them out. It is little to do with owning or operating your own profitable business, but everything to do with perpetuating the cycle of council control.

So if you buy into the dream world of Dougie and Fairplay, be fully aware of what it really means to be a taxi “owner."

"ignorance is bliss"

Dougie, your latest comment is a perfect example of how delusional you really are. You never paid for a plate. You don't own a plate, and you did not make an investment in a plate. If you paid for anything, it was a job, and if you happen to get lucky, someone equally as ignorant as you might buy the job, releasing you from your chattels.

If you doubt what I say, simply phone up your slave owner and seek clarification. You won't find anyone at Council HQ, confirming you bought, or that you own council property.

Now anyone with a couple of brain cells would understand the above to be true, but not you.

So Dougie, if you and your inbred chum Fairplay, ever get the chance to sell your jobs to some sap. You'll be banging the drum up at the White House bar or Castle Tavern, telling everyone how clever you are. However, if the council blows you out, you'll be looking for someone to blame.

You see Dougie. That's the way it is with guys like you.
